Well, have a look at the picture on the slide. There are two vehicles, one is a broken Tesla, which is self driving car, and the other is a completed truck. What happened to the vehicles is that the Tesla at a speed of 74mph crashed into the truck which was accosting a road . In fact, when the crash happened, nobody controlled the Tesla but the autopilot ,so the vehicle didn't slow down. Unfortunately, the driver of Tesla was killed but truck driver was survived without any injury. So, who should be blamed? Should we blame driver of truck or tesla? Should we blam the engineer who create self driving car?

Let me give you an example of how the very first autonomous car accident happened.

The accident occurred when a Tesla self-driving car was driving at a speed of 74 mph with autopilot mode on Florida highway, a lorry truck crossed the lane. The car was unable to stop, then crashed into the track. As a result, the Tesla driver was killed in the accident.

Who should be blamed for this accident?
There are different perspectives on this.
Florida police accused the lorry driver of the crash, whereas US Federal roads regulator stated this was the fault of the Tesla driver. In addition, Tesla, the autonomous car manufacturer, should also take responsibility.

It is hard to give an accurate conclusion about who needs to be punished. What the accident reminds us is that we need to draw attention to each detail.

Ok! Let us turn to the key point. I would like to show you how safe the self-driving cars are. This slide will show you the terrible car crash between the Tesla with the self-driving mode named as “Autopilot” and a common truck. The event, which occurred in early 2017, made an e controversy. The public were more likely to criticize the Tesla could not distinguish the white cargo box and sky thereby, the car went under the truck with 74 miles per hour. Under this circumstance, they all expressed the consideration with this new technology which can take ones’ life. However, does it mean they are not safe? I suppose not. In fact, according to the law, the truck did not put the panels between two wheels, which can prevent from the dangers. So, who’s to blame？ My answer is that it depends on the specific situation, the decision should not be made easily.

Let me show you a picture on the slide. It shows a severe car accident, half of it crashed into the truck and was destroyed. At a speed of 74mph, the driver was almost killed immediately. So what caused this accident is the car failed to slow down since the auto-driving system can not distinguish the truck color from the sky. ~~Thus~~, Well, there is a question. Who should be to blame for this accident? The program staff? The driver of the car or the truck? The rules or policy makers? Or Tesla company? Well, actually, the responsible party is not easy ~~to be defined~~ to define. In the next slide, I will discuss some ideas about this question.
