1. To me, what stands out is that we believe that teachers want to do a good job and will improve if given the time and tools to plan effectively. I like that this article is focused on what we need to do and not on punishing or shaming teachers or schools who are not getting certain test scores.
2. In the first quote by Marzano it indicates that any student from one class should be able to gain the skills they need if switched to another class elsewhere, which makes sense to me because a student has no control (or very little) over which teacher they are placed with and therefore they have the right to a good education regardless of whose room they are in. There may be differences in style or relationship, obviously, but I think it makes sense that the key content is provided and the student gets the same skills no matter what.
3. I think the greatest challenge is in simply managing all the knowledge that teachers have and collaborating effectively. It's very difficult with teachers entering and leaving the field so frequently to establish consistency and it can be difficult even if we do have a long term work partnership to figure out what the best methods are. It's also difficult to find time to do this.

4. The standards are the list of things that all students must master. The curriculum should be a more thorough guide on how to get students to that knowledge.

The goal is to "pull out" the key ideas from the somewhat vague standards so every student has equal access to the content.
3. Teaching is an art form so trying to streamline the curriculum where "a compact list of learning expectations
for each grade or course and tangible exemplars of student proficiency" is used can stifle the ability to adjust instruction as needed by teacher and students.
4.Curriculum should be linked to the standards but it also includes many of the process skills and manner in which the standards are presented.

The curriculum is what you are teaching as a whole, and the standards are the key points that you focus in on within your curriculum and use to measure the success of your students.
