-Misleading Graph- (Will)
In this graph, the amount of people on welfare is being compared to amount of those with a full time. The graph is titled, but the bar scales are not proportioned correctly and the axis are not numbered. The bars are sized in such a way that it makes it seem like the those on welfare greatly outnumber those with jobs, when it reality the difference is only 7.9 million. Their are also plenty of distracting cosmetics.

This graph is a good graph because it has axis with clear labels. Both axis go up by equal increments. The axis even aren't abbreviated, they put the population a the whole number. There is no attempt to misconstrue the data, it is presented as it is.

This graph is a bad graph. Neither axis is labeled so we have no sense of the actual drop. The title is also biased to make the graph seem convincing. The graph also makes a drop of 3000 look like a drop of significantly more. This data is heavily misconstrued.

I can't speak for the validity of the actual data, but the y axis starts at 0 and increases by equal increments, the x axis shows categorical data by president in office, and there is a title. Maybe it was considered bad because the label on top that says the exact number extends the line somewhat so it appears Obama's is off the graph, but since every bar has the same label, I think it is an accurate representation. And the last number IS much larger than the others so if it is highlighted at all it is not to an unfair extent. I feel like it was only in the "bad graphs" section on google because it is from Fox News which has a somewhat unfairly bad reputation considering almost all other news networks do the same thing.

This is a good graph because the increments of the y-scale match the amount of tension the numbers and points represent. Were this about the cost of bananas and not gas, it would be misleading, because it would by far outweigh the effect on people who buy bananas. For gas however, a near $ 0.50 raise in gas cost can be seriously detrimental to the budgets of the car-owning population.

This graph is extremely misleading one because the y axis is inverted so while it looks like the "Stand your Ground" law decreased firearm murders it actually went up after that law was enacted. The shading is also confusing when taken with the dots on the line one isn't sure whether the highlighted part is the data or the line is the data.
