If Banksy really is Robin Gunningham, he was born on 28th July 1973 near Bristol and is now believed to be living in London. It was created in London in 2002. First created by Banksy as a stencil street art piece in 2002, the world-renowned image of a young girl with her hand extended toward a heart-shaped red balloon has most famously been a symbol of political protests — including during the building of the Israel-Palestine segregation barrier in 2005 and the Syrian civil.
    PURPOSE- Likely, Banksy created this dual interpretation intentionally to evoke the viewer's personal view on hope. Balloons signify happiness- and Banksy makes that very clear by making it the only aspect of the image that has color. Balloons often remind us of happy occasions and celebrations.
    CONTENT- Initially you see the charming painting of a young girl that reaches up to her lost, heart-shaped balloon. But what is the message that Banksy wants to convey? The heart refers to love, hope, innocence, youthfulness and self-assurance.
    VALUES- Before Nola became a Banksy print for sale, it was a stencil that Banksy created in 2008 as New Orleans began the largest evacuation in the United States’ history with the advent of Hurricane Gustav. The city was scarred by the devastating effects of 2005’s Hurricane Katrina, when the levees that were supposed to protect the city from flooding broke and thousands of lives, businesses, and homes were lost. Banksy created Nola (the city’s nickname) to sympathize with the people of New Orleans. The graffiti art piece depicts an innocent young girl who relies on her umbrella for obvious protection against the rain, but discovers that the umbrella itself is the source of the rain. She is shown reaching a hand dubiously out of her failed shelter to see if it is raining outside as well.
