For all the role of science, mathematics, and new inventions in earlier wars, no war had as profound an effect on the technologies of our current lives than World War II. There were numerous new inventions and scientific principles that were developed after the war.

Atomic Bombs: The invention and development of this weapon post war was able to signify how the world was now destructible.

Telephones also experienced a similarly accelerated increase in use and technological development after WWII. From its invention by Alexander Graham Bell in the late 19th century, the telephone grew increasingly popular and largely replaced the telegraph by WWII, with approximately 30 million phones in service by 1948. After WWII, telephone use continued to expand quickly and by the 1960s over 80 million phones were in use.

Television: The earliest 3D television broadcasts in the world were broadcast over XHGC in 1954. Color television was introduced in 1962, also over XHGC-TV.

Television became a powerful medium. Commercials sold everything from chewing gum to presidents. The increased purchase of television sets was indicative of mid-century society's materialistic mood.

The postwar period after WWII was marked by economics prosperity within the US, solidifying the country as one of the richest in the world. The growth of the automobile industry and production of cars quadrupled between 1946-1955, and in the 1950s the US saw a rise in the growth or merger and conglomerate, which were firms that had holdings in variety of industries. Also, women who had jobs during the the war became permanent parts of the economy, and more women (both white and minority), held jobs.
