People create art to express, many things, such as freedom, creativity, religion, and emotions. As we analyze, why people create art, we will see the characteristics that create a masterpiece. In 1508, Michelangelo took the responsibility of painting the ceiling of a chapel during the renaissance period. He worked on this chapel from 1508 to 1512. Over four years, Michelangelo incorporates, many details, such as texture, lines, light, shadow, and color. He also uses emphasis, balance, and symmetry. When overlooking the chapel, the art is completely sectioned, giving the entire room, balance and symmetry. He uses lines and color to add detail to his paintings of religious events and figures. He created his art to inspire and show others the beauty of religion. To Michelangelo, art was the expression of religious freedom and beauty. Another historic artist is Donatello. Like Michelangelo, Donatello also worked with religious art. Donatello found himself creating gorgeous sculptures to represent the powerful religious figures of the world. When he creates the crucifix for Santa Croce, the artist creates the sculpture by using shape and texture to hand sculpt Jesus, hanging on the cross. Both examples of art demonstrate why people can create art for many different reasons. in this case, both Donatello and Michelangelo created art to represent the beauty of religious figures and events.

People create art in order to record the events of the world around them and create stories. People from different cultures around the world use art in order to express what they see and document things that have happened and have an effect on their environment. Humans use resources to satisfy the desire to create something new to represent a feeling they have, and showcase the state they feel they are in at that point in time. Art can be used to tell stories of inspirational and important beings in each culture. Religious and powerful figures inspire people to create and make something in their honor, tributing allegiance and respect. These stories can also be told to protest wrongdoing and provide a new creation of rebellion or opposition, formed from feeling negative about a specific moment in their personal history, in addition to information about a hateful event they have experienced in their community.

Me and My Parrots self portrait by Frida Kahlo, 1941. This piece in my opinion is a great example of why artist make art. Art is an outlet of creativity filled with possibilities art allows us to be imaginative and expressive by definition by Oxford language art is the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power. Frida Kahlo as an artist fully embodies this definition of art. She often made pieces inspired by her own emotions or moments in her life as a child, during her marriage, and up until her passing in 1954. Frida Kahlo employed techniques and adopted a style that was inspired by the native cultures of Mexico, as well as European influences such as Realism, Symbolism, and Surrealism.

The subject of people and portraits is a very popular subject. People have been enamored with recreating their own form, finding beauty and interest in what we are. This subject means that what is being presented represents a person, from drawings to sculptures to videos, this subject is found throughout every art form and style. The human face can be portrayed in different ways, with each artist having a different way of drawing the features. Occasionally, features will be completely missing, such as ears or noses. Throughout time and cultures, the face and body has changed and will continue to get more complex or realistic. Humans are fascinated with themselves, and find artistic value in themselves. They are inspired to create and make something out of their body, a value of importance and representation of their story. People are portrayed in vastly different emotions, ranging from happy to angry to emotionless.

The subject of still-life is a very old subject. This subject describes pieces of art depicting objects that don’t move. This subject can cast from fictional to real, creating ideas for still inventions or a simple painting of a bowl of oranges. People can find inspiration through anything, and want to replicate a natural part of human life, turning it into art. Replicating what you see showcases your point of view, finding beauty in colors or the arrangement of what you see. Art that comes from this subject can have many reasons for being created, but it often comes down to viewing a simple sight as something with artistic value- an aesthetic that can be found right in front of you. Creating a picture from motionless objects can bring perspective and create a more vibrant life. Beginning to break down the aspects of what you see can result in more art being created, continuing the cycle of creation and inspiration. Here is more information on what still-life is: https://www.getty.edu/news/what-is-a-still-life/.

The subject of landscapes depict natural and imaginary agro/architechture and society. This subject typically depicts a natural or manmade area of land or prediction of what hasn’t been discovered yet. These artpieces usually compromise the important aspects of why the artist wanted to choose this specific area to replicate in a different artistic format. This subject can vast from fictional to real, replicating real landscapes and creating an area from the mind, or adding elements to an existing landscape, creating it their own. Humanoid figures can be placed into landscape pieces, yet the focus is on the nature and living beings other than people. Acknowledging the background of every day life often inspires these pieces of art, a desire to seek out beauty from both manmade and natural areas. Older pieces of landscape art often depict the reference in an innocent and positive light, in a mission to honor the subject. Here is a general explanation of the landscape genre: https://www.tate.org.uk/art/art-terms/l/landscape.

The abstract subject has no specific depiction. This subject shows a completely different perspective from previous forms of art, embodying art with no form. These art pieces are often created through the frustration of an artist, questioning identity and results in aimlessly creating. These art pieces desire to show that there are no boundaries on what can be considered art, proving that a random creation of shapes and colors can have as much artistic value as natural life or hyper realistic paintings. This subject shows the originality of the artist, something that no other artist could replicate or understand. The meaning of art began to change in their opinion, and a feeling of proving that anything can be art began to emerge, showcasing the intense and indescribable emotions artists experience. Creating unrecognizable works of art shows the value of art in someone’s life, random lines and shapes can mean nothing from an outside perspective, but for the artist, it shows love for their passion.

We as humans like to express ourselves to others any which way we can. It could be expressing the emotions through a poem, or writing about anger and revenge in a novel, or simply expressing how the future human’s going to be in a science documentary or a painting; we like to express our experiences to others. Most of the time, what people create others can relate to it. That could be a personal experience, a public event that changed the world or changed a lot of people’s lives. We get connected through art in spite of any particular reason or for so many reasons. The reasons could be endless. This is an interesting subject. One thing is very certain; that from the first human in a cave began art, to the end of times people will always create arts, any shape or form. Throughout history we see how art has changed the world. Sometimes art can fulfill something one is lacking from their lives. Art is a powerful medium that can work for humanity or against. But mostly it had done good for the world and art helped humanity to evolve.

The beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Throughout history artists created beautiful artworks that were pleasing to the eyes and breathtaking. Especially the renaissance artists who captured nature beautifully. Magnificent art pieces showcase wealth and power. People admired a lovely piece of art. A spectacular art will generate dopamine in our brains, which makes us want to look at more beautiful arts. Beauty is purely a personal experience; however, there are some formulas that intentionally or unintentionally artists use to make the artwork pleasurable to the mind. These beautiful art inspire us and it is relatable to our lives. All the arts, do not matter what form or shape will get an audience because it is desirable for some. They understand the artwork, it is beautiful for that group of people. There are only a few artworks that will please everyone. Usually it will be like-minded people who will admire a particular art. There is beauty in everything. Art is a perfect medium to capture beauty in the world and beauty around us.
This painting is from Sri Lanka in a place called Segiriya and it’s a huge rock and on top of that there was a palace. These paintings are from unknown artists that is dated to 480AD.

This painting captured the beauty of women magnificently. Historians interpret this as a princess or the queen in the front with flowers and the helper behind her. It’s allegiant just like a woman should be. Just breathtakingly beautiful.
