There's no such thing as a dumb question. It's very likely that someone else has the same question. I feel the question box is a great idea so that students can ask questions privately and without embarrassment. I let the students know that they can ask me any question that they might have in class or privately if they don't want other students to hear. I will try to acknowledge and answer all questions that I can.

I would stress that there is no question too silly and there are no dumb questions. They can ask me in private or write it down if they are too embarrassed. Make sure to acknowledge how brave they are to ask about these things. I always tell my students if I don't know the answer to something, but that I will do my best to find out.
