I think 'An hour with abuelo' is a small heart-warming story that's about learning from one's generation. For example: the text states, "That's the way life is. It sometimes makes me mad that the adults I know just accept whatever is thrown at them because "that's the way things are." Not for me. I go after what I want."

I really enjoyed this story. This story had an interesting ending and I loved it. At the begging when Arturo was joking that the grandfather is writing a story of his life he was. The story was inspiring toward Abuela because at first he was wondering why his grandfather gives up on his dream of being a teacher. While he never stopped fighting for being a teacher or something do with books. The ending of this story is the best because the grandfather Abuela reads books that are written by him to other older people "you promised us you'd read your new one today.".Lastly the message of this story is to always fight for your dreams and never underestimate someone powers because if you fight towers your dreams you will always find a way to make them come true.

I really enjoyed hearing this short story. It felt inspirational to hear Alturo's grandfather write such an amazing short story of his life. The message of the short story is how just because someone is old and they get thrown into a nursing home, doesn't mean that they can't do such amazing things that inspire you. Alturo learned that from his grandfather. Just because someone is old and they might not know anything, that doesn't mean that they can't do amazing things.

I think the message of the story is even when you get old that doesn't mean your life's over. I think that because Arturo senior seems to be pretty popular with the other seniors since they all wanted to hear his poetry. He also smiled when the lady came to get him so he probably really wanted to share his work. Arturo jr probably learned from his abuelo that getting old ism't that bad. Arturo jr probably also learned from his abuelo's book.

I liked this story a lot because i liked that first it looked like the grandson didn't want to go to see his Abuelo but then he never noticed at the end when his time ended until his grandpa told him that his hour was over. The grandson can learn a lot from his Abuelo because in his book of his life, he had wroten about when he was at the war so that's something that one generation can learn from another. Then what one thing a generation can learn from another is that his grandson can tell his Abuelo maybe how to use the technology from today and everything that the grandson knows that is different from the grandpa's life period to the grandson's life period. Then also the grandpa can teach his grandson more about the war since he was there. Another thing a generation can learn from another for example is that when the grandson didn't want to give up on his dream and he said that "asi es la vida" isn't gonna stop him from being what he wants to be.

It also tells the story of the grandfather who had big dreams, and that sometimes it doesn't always work the way you want it to. Though I also like that Arturo has passion and wants to fight for what he wants to do in life in any way he can. In the end, though, we learn that even if we don't get what we want in life, we can still be happy and enjoy life the most we can.

Well, the boy's name is Autro but his mom told him to go with his grandpa for at least a hour he didn't want to go t the place where old people go but what other option did he had? He promised his mother, so he has to finish it. AS he went inside he rushed to go find his room as he entered he saw him writing he asked what was he writing, and he said your life? and of course he was joking around but his abuelo said how did you know? Long story short their connection was strong that Autro didn't even cared how much time he had with abulo but as his time was up his abuelo was timing him the whole time! But it ws a very unique story..

I enjoyed this story, especially the ending it was so cute. I read that the grandfather always had a love for words, learning to read and write a very young age. He did the same for his children. He loved to teach, and would have been happy to do that for the rest of his life. However, life did not go as planned. "Asi es la vida", the title of his book, and referenced in the story. After coming back from war things changed. Teaching qualifications became were higher that what he had. He became a farmer and raised a family. However, he did not ever lose his love of words.

I would say that the message is that even though your life does not come out how you wanted it to, you can still do and enjoy what you loved. And in this case Don Arturo loved to read and write. Just ask the lady in the pink joggers.

He sees this sad but interesting story his grandpa shares, and realizes theirs more to his grandpa then just "old" and "sickly". And thats what I think the message is, thiers always more to people then we think. Arturo did not understand nor really cared to learn about his grandpa, but by spending an hour actually listening to him he got to understand and maybe even come to like his grandpa more. Arturo found out his grandpa had a dream to be a teacher, but had to give up that dream due to certain circumstances. Arturo learned from his grandpas story that not everyone is as lucky as himself to have the chances to make his dreams a reality.

The meaning is that you don't have to give up and not listen to the old generation because they can teach you a lot of stuff. For an example the grandpa and his grandson got at the nursing home at the same time and his grandson did not want to be there. He then knows how Abuelo feels and understands him a lot better know. Over all the end of this story was so heart warming and it teaches us a very good lesson.

Just like how the pink jogging shoes went in Abuelo was being tough with his voice telling his grandson to get the wheel chair and right away got up and went on that wheel chair and wanted to go with her, Abuelo was so excited where he was tracking time for this grandson to head out and shows that just because a old person look sad and depressed deep down they can be a real player.

This was a really nice and heart warming story. Older generations might be older and people might think that they can hardly do anything but we the younger generation can also learn a lot from the older generation. Thats how Arturo learned a lot from his Abuelo. First he was sad that he had to go to his Abuelo and then when he read what his Abuelo wrote he was shocked. Also if someone is old that doesnt always mean that their brain isnt sharp maybe their body isnt so sharp but their brain can be pretty good. Older people like our grandparents and us kids have different mind sets and could be smarter than others. The one thing is that we all have different minds and they are all very unique.

I feel as if the message of the story describes that you're never too old to have the same experience as someone younger. In the story, the abuelo is mentioned as an elder person whose "body is shrinking like a crumbled-up brown paper sack with some bones in it." Although that's so, he still had a young imagination in his mind that didn't show on his physical appearance. He later found himself flirting with a lady in a pink jogging outfit, which brought him to find love at his old age. In conclusion, he found a lady friend regardless of his age which brings us back to the message that you're never too old to have the same experience as someone younger.

For example one generation can show you the true meaning of the world that one didn't know about vis versa. The massage of this story was that just because an old man is weak in the body doesn't mean he is weak to the brain and thoughts. For example in the story when his body failed him he still kept writing because his thoughts live on. He truly shows the meaning of thoughts and dreams and shows that generations can learn from each other.

I think the message of this story is to keep in contact with loved ones. This helps you understand them better. If you don't keep on contact, you might never know their past or future. For example, if they weren't together at that time, the kid might have never heard that poem his grandpa made. The poem also told him about the grandpa's past.

What I think the message of this story is, is to never to judge someone because of what age or how old they might be. In this story Arturo Jr, has always thought about how his grandmpa arturo, is not able to do much now that he is older but he soon relized that no matter what his age is he can still be capable of likeing whoever and whatever he wants even if that includies flirting with someone and or etc. He had never thought about what life might be like for elderlys like his grandmpa. We should always learn a way to understand people better and never dought anyone by just knowing how old they might come to be.

What is the question you should asking yourself? Well in ELA we should be asking how can one generation learn from another. Well in the story the message is that little Abuelo has learned that even though he is younger than his grandfather, his Grandfather still understands what his grandchild might be going through. For example in the story is talks about how grandpa might be in a relationship with a lady. Well you would think that at that age he would focusing on his poetry. Little Abuelo learned something because he probably didn't think that his Grandfather would be doing that at his age. Also it might show that grandpa might know or help little Abuelo with his problems.

I think the message of the story is to not judge or misinterpret somebody because of their age. Arturo Jr thought that his Abuelo was a sad, sick, elderly man that lived alone in a nursing home. He never thought that his Abuelo would date and flirt with somebody. He judged his Abuelo because of his age and thinks that he was sad and lonely since he lost his wife and he was dying. We can learn a lot of different things from other generations. Like what made them happy, what they used for entertainment, and what they wanted to accomplish.

That short and beautiful story about an elderly man living in a nursing home after the dead of his wife in Puerto Rico.
Abuelo's daughter begs and makes go her son Arturo to spend at least one hour with his Abuelo.
I believe that hour spent with him has changed his thinking not only about this old man but also about other people of his generation.
We can learn a lot from our grandparents and they can also learn from us. We should never judge people especially just because of their age. They lived at different times and we know nothing about they might be gone through.
