         <description><![CDATA[<p>I learned that red-marking a youth's language in their writings can be dangerous and invoke a negative connotation to languages for them causing them to be less likely to turn things in. I relearned the connection to standard English and colonialism, the idea that if you do not speak the language well then you are stupid. I unlearned the idea that “slang” is not grammatically correct and that giving it the term “slang” is harmful.</p>]]></description>

The ways in which you talk to your friends is completely different from the ways in which you write a paper, but because of their young age the two may and most likely will overlap. </p><p><br></p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The understanding that based on the backgrounds that students are coming from may mean that their education understanding is at different levels. Instead of continuously letting them opt out or letting them fail, dig deep, figure out what you can do as the educator to help the student so they aren't continuously failing. </p>]]></description>
