Although they have been to many concentration camps but Auschwitz was the worst one they have been too. His family all died very quickly except Elie and his father they got beat starved and tortured But they both pushed through it. The first person is Marta and her view is when the wall went up, but Kurt's view is when the wall was about to come down. Also, they both have encounters with the Stasi about their escape plans. Both of them lost a family member when they were in East Berlin. They both have decisions that they don't want to make but still do. Also, they both learn new lessons when they are escaping.
