After earning a bachelor of science in biology and a doctor of dental medicine from the University of Pittsburgh, Dr. Thomas Harter undertook a general practice residency at Bethesda Naval Hospital in Maryland. To gain advanced knowledge in the areas of temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders, sleep disordered breathing, and chronic pain, Dr. Thomas Harter then completed several residencies and more than 1,000 hours of continuing education.

Since 2018, Dr. Harter has worked as a dentist at the TMJ & Sleep Therapy Centre of NCF in Ocala, FL. Utilizing a holistic approach, he considers the ways nutrition and lifestyle contribute to health problems such as chronic pain in the neck and head region, mouth breathing, and sleep disorders. Working with patients as young as 4 years old, he treats sleep disordered breathing and TMJ disorders with both fixed and removable devices that direct skeletal development. This typically results in dramatic improvements to mental and physical health.

When he is not working as a private practice dentist in Ocala, FL, Dr. Harter enjoys boating, scuba diving, and playing golf.
