         <description><![CDATA[<div>In your email you ask: Do we want to build a culture of thinking and learning or of evaluation?Are we preparing students for life or for examinations? In answer to the first, I'd say good evaluations can and should assist thinking and learning (and I don't just&nbsp; mean formatives here). Most of these are better done at home;&nbsp; class exams rarely lend themselves&nbsp; to this confluence. Ideally such evaluations should also allow for student choice.&nbsp;<br><br>The answer to the second question is easy: The IB prepares students for examinations, which for two years is also their life</div>]]></description>
