The south seems to have the greatest advantage according to part 2, but with part one the north seems to have the greater advantage. So I'm going to say that the north has the greater advantage because the north overpowered the south when it came to soldiers and railroad tracks. In part 2 it states, "The north could draw soldiers and workers from a population of 22 million compared with the south's 5.5 million." This shows that with as many as the north has they could easily overrule them in a lot of cases. In the same article it states "Some 22.,000 miles of railroad track could draw more sloldiers and supplies throughout the north. The south had only about 9,000 miles of track..." This piece of evidence also shows that the north overpowered then when it came to moving equipment and soldiers.

I think that the Confederacy had the greater advantage in the Civil War. Reasons why I think they did is because they had stronger and smart officers to lead them. In part 2 it states, "With its strong military traditon, the south put many brilliant officers into battle." Another reason why I think they had the advantage that all they had to do was defend the south against the north. Part 2: "It needed only defend itself until the north grew tired of defending. Southern soldiers fought mostly on their home soil. Defending the Norths large army and their 22,000 miles of railroad tracks, I think the south had an advantage but a very small advantage.

The north unionists had greater advantages than the south confederacy. Population was a great advantage only if used strategically. At first the Confederecy had the "most brilliant minds" and used strategic moves to equal the power of the union army which was more than twice their size. But when the Unionist became aware of their situation a change was made and the north became more powerful and harder to attack and defend against. The north had also "9 times as much goods" and could
Keep their men well treated and fed, with plentiful resources and weapons to provide an advantage. Therefor the many advantages of the North unionist caused them the greater advantage.

I believe that both sides had a pretty good chance on etheir side, but the North had the little bit better of an advantage with the railroad and the size of army's with the freeing of slaves." The north had some 22,000 railroads compared to the confederacy with 4,000 miles of railroad". This shows how much more of an advantage the north had towards the south with the part of being able to take troops from place to place in 2 days of train compared to 2 months of walking and diseases. There was also the factor of the size of each army with the south having less than half the size of the norths army." There were 22 milllion soldiers on the north compared to the 9 million on the south". This shows how the south had a huge disadvantage in the amount of men they had so they couldnt have out held them without getting taken out first.

The North also has "22 million" people they could draft as a last resort, compared to the south's 5.5 million. However, the south has strong military tradition, which would be fine if the north didn't have more guns and weaponry. The south did have much more food and food production. The south has the strategic advantage because the north was the occupying force. In total, the north has 3/5 of the advantages.

The text states, "Some 22,000 miles of railroad track could move soldiers and supplies throughout the North. The South had only about 9,000 miles of track. . ." This shows how much greater the amount of rail roads the Union had compared to the Confederacy. This means that the North could travel farther faster than the South with the railroads. In addition, the North had already had a government figured out, but the South had to figure out their government along with the money. With a greater population, the North also had the ability of more soliders which would help defeat the South.

One of the Norths huge advantages were the population difference. The north had many more troops and resources which allowed them to outnumber the south. The north also had an advantage in transportation. It says "22000 miles of railroad track could move soldiers and supplies throughout the north, the south had about 9000 miles of track." This shows how the north had a major advantage in transportation. The South although outnumbered also had some advantages one being their generals. The souths generals were very good and intelligent generals a lot better than the north. They had better statages and ways to work around being out numbered. In the text it says the south generals had "brilliant minds" This shows one of the advantages of the south and how they used this to outsmart the north.

One Advantage for the north was a significantly larger population than the south. I know this because in the text it states "The north could draw soliders and workers from a pollution of 22 million compared to south shore 5.5 million." This is important because this gave a huge amdvantge to the north. For the fact that they had more people to fight, even if their are hundreds of deaths. A advantage of the south is that their geniales were highly intelligent. "Generals... most brilliant military minds America ever produced." Which gives them an advantage because they will hav better stragaties. A second major advantage for the North is transportation. Because in the text it states "The south had some 22,000 miles of railroad track ...which could move soliders and supples."Which helped them have them transport many supplies for war and wounded soliders back home. Also for the south they had the war mostly all n their land. Therefor giving them a huge advantage because they knew how to get around things.

The North probably had the best advantage in the Civil War. They had the most railroad, the most amount of people, and the best manufacturing industry. Having the most amount of people was an advantage because it gave them a larger army. This would makes it much easier to outnumber the south. The manufacturing industry was important because it gave them more supplies and more money than the south. The amount of track the north had was a huge advantage for the union. It allowed them to ship soldiers and supplies all over. It let them get people around way faster. "Numbers tell an important story about the Civil War. Consider the North’s advantages. It could draw soldiers and workers from a population of 22 million, compared with the South’s 5.5 million. One of its greatest advantages was its network of roads, canals, and railroads. Some 22,000 miles of railroad track cold move soldiers and supplies throughout the North. The South had only about 9,000 miles of track." This quote shows that they had a very long railroad system, and it helped them ship more things around. It also shows how they had a lot more people than the south.

The Union had the greater advantage because of Transportation and Population. Transportatio was easily in the Norths favor. The text said "Some 22,000 miles of railroad. " This was so important to the Union since they could transport supplies and soldiers. This meant that if there was a big war that took lost of supplies and soldiers the North could replenish quicker. The transportation advantage works hand in hand with the population advantage. The evidence is "Population of 22 million... the Souths 5.5 million." This evidence shows how outnumbered the Confederacy was. The North had a bigger advantage since they could get more soldiers quicker since they had a bigger population. This would allow them to stay ahead of the South. This links to the transportation since they could easily transport these new soliders.

The union had a greater advantage because of population and transportion . Transportion was greater in the north than the south. In the text it says that "some 22,000 miles of railroad" this is good for the north because they can transport soldiers and supplies to where the needed to be. If there was a war that made the union lose lots of supplies or even soldiers that they could get supplies and soldiers faster than the south. Population and Transportion work together in this advantage. The texts proves this by stating "the population of 22 million in the union while the 5 million for the Confederacy" this is showing how the union well outnumbered the Confederacy. These advantages of the north helped them by being able to get soldiers and supplies quicker than the south the bigger population also helped with this. These advantages would help the union stay far ahead of the Confederacy

The union had a greater advantage due to the immense amount of railroad that they had. "Some 22,000 miles of railroad." With them having that much railroad made it much easier for them to transport lots of supplies that would take weeks just in 2 days. This also goes with their population advantage that helped transport lots of soldiers through the railroad. So the railroad for the union made the war a lot easier because the amount of soldiers they had and the amount of railroad just created such a good pair.

In the sources it said "...had thousands more miles of railroad track...bring resources quickly." Also having the bigger population was a major advantage because in the sources it said for the confederacy "...side had a smaller population....in fact half the total size." It could draw soldiers and workers from a population of 22 million, compared with the South’s 5.5 million." This quote shows the north had a larger population to select soldiers from. This gave the north the advantage because they could pound the south. They had so many soldiers that the south couldn't handle them. Their massive supply of troops allowed their army to be fresh. Another reason why the north had such a great advantage is because they had most of the nations wealth. "This side in the civil war controlled most all of the nation's wealth." This quote shows that the north controlled most of the nation's wealth. With all this money they could afford the best weapons. With the best weapons they could accurately kill them south's armies leading to a huge advantage.

The North had the advantage in the Civil War. One of the two reasons why is because of their superior railroad system. The text states "Some 22,000 miles of railroad track... The South had only about 9,000 miles of track..." This textual evidence shows that the North had a clearly superior railroad system due to its about 13,000 more miles of railroad availability. Another reason why the Union was the superior force during the Civil War was because of its size. To show this, the text states "It (the North) could draw soldiers and workers from a population of 22 million, compared with the South's 5.5 million." This evidence explicitly provides clarity to how much larger the Union's force was in comparison to the Confederacy.

Which means that the north could get more work done than the south could get done so they produced more bullets and weapons and they also had more men fighting than the south did also in station 3 it says "In fact it was less than half of the total size" showing that the north could get more done twice as fast as the south did

For example, while the Confederacy had the advantage of battling on their own ground, the Union had 22,000 miles of railroad which benefitted them very much because they were easily able to transport soldiers and supplies. "One of its greatest advantages was its network of roads, canals, and railroads. Some 22,000 miles of railroad track cold move soldiers and supplies throughout the North. The South had only about 9,000 miles of track. . . . " this proves that the Union had a better advantage because their advantage she had more beneficial factors to them which ended up helping them win the war.

The North had a better advantage because they had greater outside forces helping them. For example, the railroad. In part one, it is stated that the North, "...could produce brung resources quickly when needed," to their troops. This way the Union never ran out of things such as supplies, weapons, and food. All of which are detrimental to an army. Also, with the advancement of the North's technological industry, they were able to capitalize on the use of the railroad. For example, "...factories in this region manufactured 9 times as much goods than the other." So, the north was able to use their resources to their full advantage in the war. The Union was able to use advanced technology for that time, out-manufacture the south, and get it to their union troops. With the minié ball being as dangerous as it was and the North having superior manufacturing, the death rates would have finally caught up to the south. Pushing an eventual end to the war and a Northern victory.

This information is important because it shows how the union rail system dwarfed the south s system by 11,000 miles! This shows how the union was able to transport food, weapons, am de other supplies to more locations and much faster. Furthermore, the north had nearly 22 million citizens whereas the south only had 5.5 million. In the Advantages of the Confederacy Camaprison Chart says, "It [the North] could draw soldiers and workers from a population of 22 million, compared with the South's 5.5 million."

The Confederacy had more advantages than the Union. One example is that "Southern soldiers fought mostly on their home soil, while the North had to occupy [move in and control] large areas of enemy territory." This was an advantage because the Confederacy knew the territories, and could use their knowledge in their tactics against the Union. Another reason was because of the Confederacy's military leaders. This is shown in the text by the quote, "With its strong military tradition, the South put many brilliant officers into battle." This shows that these leaders knew what they were doing, as the South had been winning the first part of the war. The Union also had advantages, including its population and transportation, as the population was "22 million, compared with the South's 5.5 million." This was important because the North had about four times as many people to help with the war effort than the South. Transportation was also an advantage since the North had "…22,000 miles of railroad track", while "the South had only about 9,000 miles of track." This was important because it could transport troops and supplies. However, the one last example why the South has more advantages is because of the strong agricultural environment. It allowed the South to get reliable rations to the troops. This is shown in the text by "Southern farms provided food for its armies." These rations were from the South to the South army, so they were more reliable than rations from elsewhere, since the South was an agricultural superpower.

This means more power which is a very big advantage in a war. His reason connects to the other advantages like the north soldiers were very familiar with the turf they were located in. This means more strategy. Like the south, if they didn't know where they were going, they don't have a really good chance of haveing more power over the North and in this case, they didn't. They had alot more railroad tracks that they can use for transporting thing such easier and probably faster. I think the union(north) had more advantages because they had 22 million people fighting and the south had 9 million people fighting. Also, the north had 22,000 miles of railroad track and the confederacy only had 9,000 miles of track. "They had thousands more railroad track." This is an advantage for the union because they could move troops and export goods. Many things during the civil war went in the norths favor. The north had 22 million people compared to the south with only 5.5 million people fighting, "22million to just 5.5 million". The north also had way more railroad. The north had 22,000 miles of railroad. The south only had 9,000 miles. The north had 13,000 more miles of railroad than the south. That also meant that they got way more money cause they weren't able to sell out more goods. I think the union just was a better advantage.

More people means more people who are able to serve in the war. The Union also had 22,000 miles of railway track, allowing faster transportation of supplies and troops, compared to the meager 9,000 miles of track the South had. This, combined with the large population the Union had, gave a distinct advantage over the Confederacy.

I believe the Union had a greater advantage. The north had more than triple the people's in the south and much more railroad track. "some 22,000 miles of rail road track... the sounth had only about 9,000 miles of track." This shows that they had more than double the amount of rail road road track. "From a population of 22 million compared with the souths 5.5 million." This shows that the north all,out hadn't quadruple the amount of people compared with the south which was a huge advantage. Some people may say that the confederacy had a greater advantage because the southhad less people and dint need as much railroad track and the north did because they had so many people, but the north could fit more supplies also and move way farther. Although the union didn't have disadvantages and struggled they had two huge advantages which were more important than some of the confederacys smaller advantages.

I think this because after all they had Twice as many soldiers than the south people, "22 million compared to 5.5 million". This means more power which is a strong advantage in a war. His reason connects to the other advantages like the north soldiers knew the turf they were fighting in. This means more strategy. Like the south, if they didn't know where they were going, they don't have a really good chance of having more power over the North and in this case, they didn't. They had alot more railroad tracks that they can use for transporting thing such easier and probably faster. "The south has only 9,000 miles of tracks" and the north had "some 22,000 miles of railroad tracks." These are just a few of the huge advantages the north had in the civil war

The Union had a support of quality over quantity in their arsenal, and the opposite in their troops, with the North having "22 million to just 9 million people [in the South]." From the text it states, " southern soldiers fought mostly on their home soil" and also from the text, "the south put brilliant officers into battle." This explains that the south had a more greater advantage because from the text it stated that they put their most brilliant officers into battle and also fought in their home area, giving them an advantages of the land. Also from the text it says, "It needed only to defend itself until the North grew tired of fighting." This shows us that their strategy was to sit and wait for the union soldiers to come to them in their homelands, giving them the advantage of the battle, which the union soldiers had to control the area and move. This shows their strategic advantage against the union soldiers whichever is why the confederates had a greater advantage.

However, if the Union didn't have the railroad tracks and telegrams it did, then the south most likely would have won the war. The south was fighting in their own territory. They didn't be have to attack, they only had to defend their own territory. They also had very good generals, the southern plantations and farms provided the army with food and uniforms, and the Northern troops were weaker in a number of ways. Evidence to support this is, "it (the south) needed only to defend itself until the north grew tired of fighting." This shows how they needed to do a lot less than the north, giving them the advantage.

These would be backed up by "It could draw soldiers and workers from a population of 22 million compared with the South's 5.5 million." This refers to the North having much greater manpower, with the possibility if getting soldiers from 4 times as many people than the South has, and "Some 22,000 miles of railroad track could move soldiers and supplies throughout the North." This is a large advantage because "The South had onky about 9,000 miles of track..." and with this large of a railroad expansion compared to th enemy, the North could do a lot mkre that the South couldn't do, or would take them too long.

This proves that north had the advantage over troops size. The north also had an advantage over the railroads, they could travel Moreno troops and supplies with their 22,000 miles of railroad over the souths 9000. "22000 miles of railroad in the north. The south only had about 9000 mile s of track." This proves that the north had the advantage over railroads. Another advantage that the north had was their strategy, the north had an advancing strategy of attacking while the south protected their land and never advanced. "The north had to occupy large areas of enemy territory. The south needed only to defend itself untill the north grew tired of fighting." This proves that the north had the advantage over strategy.

According to Part 2, "It (the North) could draw soldiers and workers from a population of 22 million, compared with the South's 5.5 million." This supports my claim because it shows that the North had a population 4 times larger than the South. Population is one of the greatest factors affecting the outcome of a war, since it allows that side to field larger armies to fight the enemy and produce more supplies for the war. This alone gave the North an enormous advantage over the South.

The Union had a greater advantage. Although the Confederacy had better military tactics and homeland advantage, the Union had a greater advantage. First off all, they had more miles of railroad tracks. "Some 22,000 miles of railroad track cold move soldiers and supplies throughout the North. The South had only about 9,000 miles of track. . . ." This shows that with more railroads tracks, more supplies could be sent and soldiers could be moved if needed. This was better compared to the amount of tracks the South had. Also, the North had more people. "It could draw soldier soldiers and workers from a population of 22 million." This was an advantage because they could take more people and good workers from theor large population. Compared to the small population of the South, this wasn't a good thing for the North because they would have more people to fight for them.

The union had the greater overall advantage in the civil war. This is because they had more advantages, and fewer disadvantages than the south. One of the biggest advantages was the north’s far superior economy, and production capabilities. “The factories in this region [the north] manufactured nine times as many goods as in the other region”. It had many more factories to produce the goods needed for the war. Another advantage was the wealth of the north. “This side of the Civil War [the north] controlled most all of the nation’s wealth. Most of America’s banking and manufacturing industries were located in this region.” This wealth and strong economy could all be turned towards the war. With this wealth the north was able to support a much larger army. These gave the union a large advantage.

The North Union had a better advantage. They had a bigger army's and more ways of transportation. In the article it states, "It [the North] could draw soldiers and workers from a population of 22 million, compared with the South's 5.5 million." This evidence isn't showing that the North outnumbered the South greatly and that gave them the advantage. Another part from the article says, "One of its [the North's] greatest advantages was its network of roads, canals, and railroads. Some 22,000 miles of railroad track could move soldiers and supplies throughout the North. The South had only about 9,000 miles of track..." This evidence is showing that the North had another advantage over the South. Transportation was helpful in that time.
