         <description><![CDATA[<p><strong>Connect:</strong> Punishing doesn't normally lead to a consistent long-term outcome.</p><p><strong>Extend:</strong> Need to find different approaches instead of punishing. Finding alternatives are probably a lot more involved than just punishing. But they would be worth it for the student in the long run. Prevent the school-to-prison pipeline :(</p><p><strong>Challenge:</strong> How do you keep your composure when facing students with behavior problems? </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p><br/></p><p>Connect: Students of color and special needs students are more likely to be disciplined.</p><p><br/></p><p>Extend:  I was so beyond shocked to see the numbers associated with this point.  Blacks 3x more likely to be suspended. the Special needs is 12% of the student population but they make up 23% of the discipline issues... WOW!!!</p><p><br/></p><p>Challenge:  I'm really curious to find out why this is.  Are these student actually presenting a discipline problem or is it a different viewpoint that the teacher doesn't want to consider?</p>]]></description>
