A Little About Me:

My name is Donna Rehder and I am 15 years old, turning 16 in December. I have many hobbies such as tennis, golf, theater, singing, and reading just to name a few. I’ve lived in Minnesota my whole life, but I’ve traveled around the country with my family. A few states I’ve been too are California, Colorado, Arizona, and Florida along with many others. I love traveling because it lets me see many parts of our country along with the cultural, architectural, and linguistic differences that vary in different regions. I love singing and listening to music, with my favorite artist being Taylor Swift and favorite album 1989. One of my favorite classes I’m taking this year is choir because of my love for singing and performing. I’m excited to start sophomore year with the challenges and exciting experiences that are soon to come.

What I Did This Summer:

I had a very eventful summer between traveling, playing tennis and spending time with family and friends. With my intermediate family, I took a 6 day long trip to San Francisco. I loved the style of the city and all of the amazing experiences it had to offer during my visit. I had tennis practice with the SLP girls tennis team almost everyday starting the end of July. I really enjoy tennis as a sport and being able to see my friends throughout the summer through the program. I also went to Alexandria with my extended family for a long weekend where we went paddle boarding, played volleyball, and swam in the lake that was next to the place where we were staying. Overall, I had a fun-filled summer that was both exciting and relaxing with the break from school.

What’s Going Well In My Life:

Where I am currently at in my life, I personally feel like there are many things that are going well. One thing is how much I’ve improved my tennis game within the last 2-3 months. I’m putting in my full effort during practice and at matches to continue to improve everyday. Another thing that is going well is my academics. Even though we just started school, I’m feeling confident going into sophomore year because of how I acceded in my classes as a freshman. I ended up getting a 5 on my AP Human Geography test, along with getting good grades in my other classes throughout the year. This was a big confidence boost mentally and now I’m feeling even more prepared for what’s next to come.

My Strengths, Interests, and Needs:

One of my main strengths in Language Arts class is writing, specifically non-fictional writing. I really like doing research on current issues going on in our world and on real life stories. I have tended to do well on non-fictional essays in the past, and it’s become a genre that I like to write about. I highly prefer reading, writing and history than math and sciences. For me, reading and writing is simply more enjoyable than solving equations. As for my needs, I really like to work alone in a distraction free environment. Depending on the assignment/activity, working in small groups can be a good option too.
