Assalamualaikum. I has pick a place for my SIEP 3 named Shafie Kites Gallery. The owner for the gallery is Shafie bin Jusoh. But now, he is longer manage the gallery due to his illness and had died on 16 February 2016 and his kites gallery has been managed by his 3rd son and wife which is Wan Anuar bin Sapie. He lived at Kampung Pauh Badang behind arwah Pak Shafie house and he open the kites gallery everyday except friday from 9 am till 4pm. Due  for solat jumaat he closed the gallery.

1st day for my siep 3. I continue in learning to tear or (meraut) the bamboo until become smaller and proper to make the traditional kites body. It is the first step in making a traditional kites.

The bamboo that finished tear off need to check whether it stable from right and left. It is for kites not weighted for a part only. It need to stable if want the kites to flew in the air stable.

Bro Anuar just continue teach me like what Pak Shafie does in my S 2 about how to tear the bamboo, but i can't do the same as he does. But for the SIEP 3, i just do it in 2 weeks, so he just teach me the most simple step in tearing bamboo and the steps to making a kites and still i can't do it. I still need more time to learning making kites to become like Pak Shafie and his son Anuar. I think if i wants to make kites, i need to study more and more until i achieve what i want.

In making the kites body. Bro Anuar told me to tear bamboo first like what Pak Shafie had taught me in SIEP 2. But, i'm totally forgot how to do it and bro Anuar need to teach me again. He said that we need to finished tear off the bamboo to the specified size first and we need to check whether the kites body is stable from right and left or not. 

Next, we need to put the finished tear bamboo at middle of our finger and see the kites body whether the bamboo stable or not. If the bamboo falls in right side, it means we need to tear up the bamboo in the right side and check it again if it stable or not after we tear that bamboo

It is for the kites not weighted only a part only. It need to stable from right and the left part if want the kites to flew good and stable in the air. The finished tear bamboo will be tied with the special rope that ordered from our neighbor country. Which is from Thailand. The rope is a quality rope that does not have in Malaysia and we used it to tied up all parts in making a kites.

Then, tied all over the  kites from bottom to upper part of the kites. It is intended, when we play the kites, the air will accumulated in the kites body will stop at the tied part body and be better when it flew in the air.

Next is the pattern drawing. In pattern drawing, we need to draw pattern naturally based on flora and fauna. Normally, Pak Shafie draw based on flora such as rafflesia, roses and so on in small pattern but now, his son overtake his gallery and make an innovation by using large pattern as the base of his drawing and actually it looks kind of beautiful as small pattern too.

The pattern that had been draw need to be tear (sobek) some part and paste it with colour paper in order to make it striking when people see it. But, until now i can't draw the pattern like Pak Shafie and his son draw. I just can make the tear (sobek) part only. So i just helping bro Anuar by doing the tear (sobek) part.

The knife used to tear up the pattern drawed also not the same knife as normal knife that we cut the bamboo. The knife used are much smaller than it and had longer part in it to making more easier in tearing small part of the drawing. The knife used is the part that not sharp in front of it but at back of it.

After we teared up all the part that need to be tear at the pattern that had been draw. We paste a colour based paper on it such as gold metallic colour or silver colour. To make it striking from far for people to see it.

Then, put some colour paper such as blue, yellow, green, red, pink that fit the pattern colour based until the kites look colorful and nice

In this step, patching the traditional kites. We will used a corn paper that sold at SMO book store. Then, we need to cracked (ronyokkan) the paper. We need to open again the cracked paper then put the body at the paper and patch it with glue just like the picture below. Make sure not to big the differences between the angle of paper and the body of kites because it will affect the kites to fly. When we play the kites, the air will accumulated in the body and will not make the corn paper to torn and crashed the kites. 

Next, we will put color for flowers either red, blue, pink or orange and for the leaves we will put green color on it. Then, the part that we have put color will be cut again and paste with the blinking color to make it more attract people to see it.

Using the rope that has been ordered from nearer country such as Thailand. Which is have a good quality in making a product. Bro Anuar had ordered many set of rope from that country and pass from Pengkalan Kubur and he pick it up there.

Then, the rope will be tied up at the upper body in the middle of traditional kites and the lower body of the kites. The tied rope must be at the centre of the traditional kites to make it stable on the air.

Before start play the traditional kites, we need to put the sound( busul) at the body of traditional kites and tied the rope ordered from thailand with the strings.

To play the traditional kites, we need two person, first person will hold the traditional kite straightly and the second person will pull up the rope and fly the traditional kites. When the kites flew, it will make a loud sound on the air.

He had give me courage to tried making the kites all the day when i do my siep at his gallery and he also tell me that all our hard work will give us a good result and his products which is traditional kites is the proof of his words. That's all from me in siep 3. Thank you.
