Benjamin is born as an elderly man rather than a baby. Benjamin was born in 1860 during the summer.

Benjamins Grandfather

Ben and his grandfather got along very well when he was first born. Since Ben was born as a 70 year old man, him and his grandfather were close in age and got along pretty well.

First Day of Kindergarten

Benjamin was sent to Kindergarten around 1860 when he was 5. Benjamin didn't last long in school because his peers and teachers thought of him as frightening.

"I am eighteen." Mr. Hart opened the door. "The idea!" he shouted. "A man of your age trying to enter here as a freshman. Eighteen years old, are you? Well, I'll give you eighteen minutes to get out of town" (Chapter 4).

Benjamin is 18 years old but looks 50. He attends Yale University but on the 3rd day, he is kicked out for being "Lying" about his age.

In 1880 Ben, who is twenty years old, decides to go work for his father's company Button & Co. Ben and his father got along well now because they were close in age. They start going out socially together.

Benjamins first love

A lady got out, then an elderly gentleman, then another young lady, beautiful as sin. Benjamin started; an almost chemical change seemed to dissolve and recompose the very elements of his body. A rigour passed over him, blood rose into his cheeks, and his forehead, and there was a steady thumping in his ears. It was first love" ( Chapter 5).

Benjamins marriage to Hildegarde

"Benjamin Button's marriage in 1880 and his father's retirement in 1895, the family fortune was doubled" ( Chapter 7).

Benjamin and Hildegarde have been married for 15 years and Benjamin has taken over the family business at 65 years old.

After 15 years of being together, Benjamin didn't find her attractive anymore so he decided to join the army for the next 3 years.

Harvard

Benjamin joins Harvard and does excellent. He plays against Yale during a football game and scored 14 touchdowns. After aging backwards Benjamin barely looks like a senior in college and doesn't make the football team. He ends up gradutaing in 1914.

Benjamin moves in with his son Roscoe

"Roscoe was married now and prominent in Baltimore life, and he wanted no scandal to creep out in connection with his family" (chapter 9) .

This is the beginning of Benjamin going to live with his son Roscoe. Roscoe wanted nothing to do with his dad because he has a reputation to take care of. Roscoe tells Benjamin to start calling him uncle so no one would get suspicious.

America had joined the Allied

Benjamin wants to serve in the war. He gets a letter stating most men who fought in the Spanish-American War are now coming back into service with higher rankings. Benjamin didn't talk to Roscoe about this so he left and went straight to South Carolina until he was brought back because the army officals thought he was young and lying.

Roscoe has a 5-year-old son and Benjamin is also 5 or around the same age. They play together. This brings Roscoe comfort because no one would suspect Benjamin to be his son's grandfather. Roscoes son moves up to first grade and Benjamin stays in Kindergarten but soon he gets kicked out .

Kicked out of school

Benjamin was kicked out of Kindergarten because he didn't have the knowledge he did when he first came to school. He's getting younger and younger and finally Roscoe takes him out of school and back home with a Nanny taking care of him.

Toddler Benjamin

Benjamin spent his toddler years with his nanny and other older women. He liked it when they would squeeze his cheeks. Occasionally a man would come visit him (Roscoe) but it wasn't very often. Benjamin liked his naps and his feedings but soon his speech and thinking ability were lost. He cried when he was hungry or sleepy and took many naps.

Benjamin passed in his sleep as a newborn. He was in his white crib awake and closed his eyes and died.
