         <description><![CDATA[<div><br></div><ul><li>As a writer, your ability to write and to understand what is needed in your writing, is directly related to what type of reader you are.&nbsp;</li><li>The more you can understand how other writers think and why they write the way they do, the more you'll have an idea of what type of writer you are and why certain things should be written one way instead of another.&nbsp;</li><li>Reading from a perspective of a writer definitely helps you understand the reading better in certain aspects. Because as you recognize patterns and why the writer made certain choices in their work, then you yourself are getting better as a reader/audience as well. You are able to comprehend the work from a different perspective if you try to understand it from the writer's perspective.</li></ul>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li>Our lack of literacy stems from a school system that fostered hatred for literature within their students.</li><li>Reading and writing may now be taught simultaneously, but teachers don't really teach how they are connected with one another.</li><li>Plus, just because students are equipped with the skills to read, it doesn't necessarily mean they have the skills to comprehend the reading. Professors should also prepare their students to understand the readings and why it is important information, they shouldn’t assume everyone is at the same comprehension level.</li></ul><div><br></div>]]></description>

There's always more than one way to do something, even English.</li><li>The type of writing produced by a writer is definitely dependent on the people and the community. Writing can vary based on what it is being done for, who it is being done by, and why it is being done.</li><li>What is considered the correct way of writing is definitely a limited mold and it does devalue cultures and people who don't fit into that mold of so-called correct writing.</li></ul>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li>Writers should most certainly strive as their own and not as any other writer who preceded them.</li><li>Writers tend to feel as though it is impossible to create an original thought because this is what society tells them. I think writers are afraid to fail and afraid to explore because the education system has always taught its students that great writing is writing that is comparable to the previous greats.</li><li>"True authors are not imitators, they are originators." I believe this quote to be true because if you are simply copying someone who is already great, you yourself will never be great. It is outdated.</li><li>It's mention of restriction one women and people of color is similar to past articles we've read about how minorities are always devalued when it comes to learning literature.</li><li>The statement that writing is where citizens can exercise their own control kind of rebuttals against other arguments in articles that claim that way too many restrictions have been put on students when it come to writing. It reached a point where students write to recite back what teachers taught them, rather than to write to explore or to learn.</li></ul><div><br></div>]]></description>
