In 1998 the percentage of people less than 15 ears who were using the internet in Taiwan was 2%. Whereas the percentage of people between 16 and 30 years old who were using the internet was 53%. Just over 40% of the people between 31 and 50 years old in Taiwan were using internet in the same year. Finally, 4% of the people who were using the internet in Taiwan were over 50 years old.

The percentage of people in Taiwan between 16 and 30 years old who were using the internet dropped moderately from 1998 to 1999 but it remained nearly stable from 1999 to 2000. However, the percentage of the internet users younge than 15 rose by 6 percent between 1998 and 1999 and by another one percent from 1999 to 2000.
