Well, I’m not quite fond on knowing its background. The first video game magazine that I read was the “Official Xbox Magazines”. I was like 13 years old, the time when my brother destroyed my PS2 and started to interested in other platforms. The magazine had revealed upcoming games coming to the console and PC. Like “Call of Duty series”, “Halo” and “Battlefield”. This had caught my interest in buying more of this magazines and also some part of the magazine mentioned about PC gaming, which I currently a PC Masterrace. Since my father refused to buy Xbox 360, I decided to use my family PC as a secondary gaming platform.
Anyway, the magazine covers topics about video game development and Xbox consoles. Each volume comes out monthly and comes out somewhere in the end of the month. The main attraction is of course, people who bought the console (Xbox 360).

The magazine also has a potential to became an online magazine. Since the Gamers (people who play video games preferred to be called) preferred to buy and read it online or even reading it on their console while playing their favourite games since the console has online features like "micro-transactions" and pre-orders. I believe that this magazine will be a huge success when it reached its potential.

Nowadays, information is easily accessible via the Internet – not being able to find the information that you want is highly unlikely due to the existence of the modern Internet. Even though there are still consumers who purchase magazines, this does not eliminate the fact that the magazine industry is facing a difficult time. As sad at it is to say, the magazine industry might be dying because the Internet is a relatively cheaper and faster option when trying to look for information. Vogue is one of the most recognizable, if not, the most recognizable magazine in the world and the sales of their magazines have dropped by 4.8%.* Magazine companies should try to expand their horizons and make online articles if they haven’t done so already.

E-pop is packaged with celebrities’ news, juicy celebrity gossips and also fun and exciting contest such as free concert tickets.

For us, as we are big fans of Korea, E-pop has become our first choice when it comes to reading magazine as  we can receive all the entertainment news that are currently happening in Korea. As students, we are so busy with our studies. So, for us to release stress, we will normally read E-pop weekly.

However, many magazines are dealing with the explosion of online-media because most of the news and information online are free of charges, so the consumers no need to spend their money to buy a hardcopy. Besides, online magazines are more user-friendly, this is because nowadays, almost everyone has a smart device, the readers can easily access online to get the fastest information instead of reading a traditional magazine.

To compete with the distraction of the internet, we think that the magazine cover design must be very attractive in order to catch the readers’ attention. Besides, magazines should set up a webpage which they can include live videos of the celebrities, live news and also live games.

The magazines have reached over 100 million readers across all platforms in various countries. These have been travellers as well as locals trusted magazine since 1968 due to its rich, informative and yet persuasive content that makes them want to continue reading the magazines’ next issue overtime. Henceforth, this make readers want to explore within their own city and overseas as well.  Timeout recommends its readers to visit places of interest such as travel guides to different continents, hotel reviews and recommendation to best places to visit  , discover good restaurants such as exquisite fine dining to small artisan café, arts and entertainment which includes movie reviews and upcoming events held in the city and etc. 

This magazine is available in various platforms such as the online website, emails and mobile apps.

It doesn’t influence me more because I didn’t read it often. But this magazine has attracted a lot of the female readers to buy it, especially the females between age 17-28. There are professional stylist giving us the most updated trend in this magazine. There are also famous stars talking about their tips about how they take care of their skin, which brand they use.

The readers will like it because it really details about it and it has a lot of beautiful pictures inside.

The topics that they normally covered are like health, style, travel, English, life stories, true stories and etc. They still cope with this era full of technology is because most of the things in that magazine are not that popular in Internets. Those people aged 25-34 usually married women who don't have time so during their free times the prefer reading rather then using internet I guess.

They can improve by using more colours and pictures rather then texts alone to attract more young people. they can discuss more interesting topics which normally young people are interested in. They can even increase the size of the magazine and use more attractive stuffs in the fornt cover to attract readers.

I seldom read printed magazines now since I can get most of the contents online especially on a social media platform where it’s faster, concrete and packed with satire and memes that help attract my interests. However, there is an online blog magazine that I frequent daily which is the NetizenBuzz.com. Just like its name, it features the translations of Korean news articles in regards to the issues that surround the Korean entertainment sphere with the additional translated highest-rated responses of Korean netizens who comment on these articles. This unique style of sharing news (by featuring the Korean netizens’ views) help the KPop international fans to gain more knowledge on the country’s opinions and views towards certain issues. However, the blog moderator strictly claims that the netizens’ comments do not reflect the majority of the opinions of Koreans. The blog magazine first started in 2012 and has garnered interests from various Kpop fans from around the world.

I think in order to co-exist with the Internet, the traditional magazines have to step up their game by improving their presences among their readers. Most magazines would publish once a month, some even published twice a month which inevitably creates a slow connection between the readers and the magazine. This would fade readers’ interests towards certain magazines as the Internet-era is all about fast news. Other than that, magazines should take up the effort to offer competitions and gifts to their most loyal readers.

Basically, Teen Vogue is a U.S. Magazine that emphasizes on the latest fashion trends and the latest news on the celebrities. Let it be gossips or their latest life update. This magazine is aimed specifically at young teens. Although it is a magazine that only focuses on the fashion and entertainment news, it is enough to attract young teens like us to read this magazine as this can impact our daily appearance. As for us, we started to buy makeup supplies at the age of 17 after being influenced by this magazine.

Their first issue was published 13 years ago which was on March 2003. This magazine has inspired young teens to indulge themselves into the fashion world. No matter what, we can not deny the fact that every teenagers out there would want to look presentable in the public eye.  When they read this magazine, their exposure to the fashion world will result in them dressing up according to the latest fashion trends. With that, this will automatically boost up their self-confidence. 

As the demand for this magazine increases, the company decided to develop more contents in the magazine such as Beauty, My Life, Wellness and 21 under 21. The Beauty section enables young teens to learn more about makeups, hairstyles and skincare. This section usually focuses more on informative and services articles. For instance, "6 tips to make your foundation look like actual skin".

In our opinion, the magazine industry should tackle the distraction of the internet by posting only half of the story on the online website and the other half on the physical copy. As a result, this will increase the number of readers buying their physical copy in the stores in order to get more details about the specific story.

This magazine is both print based and online based. The company also created an app for its readers. The main reason why this magazine is such a success in Korea is because it creates simpler ways for its readers and subscribers to get in touch with the material of the magazine. Constructive criticism for this magazine would be that they should definitely incorporate other languages for a more international audience.

Time Out Kuala Lumpur is the most influential magazine to ever hit KL, boasting a readership of over 125,000 affluent, outgoing people who share a love of finding out what's going on and who actively participate in everything that's happening in their city.

Galaxie Magazine was a fortnightly entertainment magazine in Malaysia published by Star Publications (M) Sdn. Bhd.. The magazine has been published from October 1974 and bows out in 2013 after 39 years in business. 

 

This magazine is a light-reading magazine that became a hit with teenagers and young adults. This magazine is both affordable and gives updated news in the entertainment industry. It was available for both subscriptions and also for sale in bookstores and newsstands. It covers both urban and rural cities in Peninsular and East Malaysia. 

 

Galaxie Magazine focuses on pop culture by providing the latest movie reviews, updates television programs synopsis, and also profiles of local and international artists. Other than that, they also have announcements and also contests giving out free tickets to events and concerts happening in Malaysia.

 

Besides that, one of the main attractions the targeted audience love from Galaxie Magazines is their posters they include in the magazine. Fans of music also loved getting this magazine because they also have a section dedicated to “SONGWORDS” – which is a section for the lyrics from their favorite musician.
