• If there was conflict between two states, congress could solve the problem. This was good because it kept the states from going to war with eachother and it kept peace between the states.
• Each state had a equal amount of votes in congress. This was good because it aloud smaller states to have a equal amount of votes as the bigger states.
• Congress could make treaties with other countries and with Native Americans. This was good because the United States was able get allies and not go to war with other countries and with the Native Americans.
• Congress could ask the states for money and soldiers. This was good because if the government was running low on money they could borrow money and if they were running low on soldiers they could get extra from the states.
• Congress could issue or make money. This was good because they were able to make there own currency.

• The states were able to refuse requests from congress. This was a weaknesses because if congress asked for money or soldiers the states could give them a small amount or none.
• There was no president of the United States. This was a weakness because there was no leader or person in charge.
• The government had limited powers. This was a weakness because they weren't able to tax the people or make people join the army.
• States had their own forms of government. This was a weakness because the states could make their own laws and if someone did something illegal in one state and went to another state they would be fine.
• There was no national court system. Each state had their own court system and government.

The Articles of Confederation failed because of its weaknesses because the government wasn't strong enough. One of its biggest weaknesses was that the government couldn't collect taxes. The government couldn't pay for things or pay the people working in the government. Their was also a very small army. The people didn't have to join and the government couldn't make people join. Another reason why the Articles failed was because their was no president to lead them and make decisions.

How it Could be Improved

The Articles of Confederation could be improved if the government could collect taxes and make a army. If the government had the power to collect taxes they would be able to pay for things and pay the people who work in the government. If the government had the power to make a army then the people would have more protection and the United States would be able to fight back. The Articles of Confederation could also be improved if there was a president. If there was a president then the people would have a leader and someone who makes decisions.
