According to the article I read the diseases spread both ways between Native Americans and Europeans. People say they were bad for spreading diseases but Native Americans did it also. The disease was the black plague which killed about fifty million Europeans. The Europeans weren't bad people they were just made out to be bad people. Christopher Columbus was a big part in making America and having a now free world where you can almost do anything you want.

According to Los Angeles Times Editorial Board, the explorer spread European diseases, mainly smallpox. Estimates say smallpox killed 70 to 80 percent of Native Americans. 
People should care because, due to most of the native americans dying they couldn't repopulate which lead to a shortage of the native american population.
