Teachers have to look for innovative ways to implement reading into the lesson, and one of the best tools is technology. Children are advanced into technology these days, sometimes more than adults. TikTok is a social media platform that is taking over the world and that we as teachers should take advantage of.
I would use TikTok to implement reading. There are teachers talking about their experiences, or like the example video, a teacher giving suggestions about books. TikTok is not only a tool for teachers, but for children as well. Utilizing TikTok with children will help to get their attention and learn more about reading skills through something that they already enjoy. 
In other words, as silly as TikTok seems to their elders, kids are actually (if unwittingly) increasing their reading skills when they imitate and record the dances they see on the platform (Geoffrey James, 2020).

One way to do it is through social media. What we see daily, impacts our lives, so, what about impacting it in a good way by keeping learning while on social media? 
There are Literacy experts everywhere you go, social media platforms are not the exception.
Here are three literacy-focused accounts on Twitter I will follow and why:
  1. Julie Anna Douglas @JulieAnnaPoetry - Julie discusses strategies for supporting creative writing in the classroom, such as publishing anthologies of students' work to boost confidence in writing and illustrating. She also retweets the unique ideas of other instructors.
  2. Books for Topics (Alison) @booksfortopics  - Books for Topics read and evaluate hundreds of children's books from Year 1 to Year 6, making it a handy method to locate certified books.
  3. Steven W. Anderson @web20classroom - Founder and CEO of Web20Classroom, an education, and technology consulting group. Steven tweets about pedagogy and the use of technology in the classroom. He was a co-creator of #EdChat and routinely attends speaking events and webinars.

I will assist to this conference, which will be given from January the 29th, to February the 5th.
What there is to learn: literacy leadership, phonemic awareness, differentiated instruction, English language learners, strategies for struggling readers, diverse learners, Reading Recovery, etc.
There will be three keynote speakers:
Gay Su Pinnell-Professor Emerita in the School of Teaching and Learning at The Ohio State University and a member of the Reading Hall of Fame. She has extensive experience in classroom teaching, field-based research, and in developing comprehensive literacy systems. 
Lucy Calkins- Founding Director of the Teachers College Reading and Writing Project at Columbia University. For more than thirty years, she has led the Project in its dual functions as a think tank, developing state-of-the-art teaching methods, and a provider of professional development, supporting hundreds of thousands of teachers, principals, superintendents, and policy-makers across the country and around the world.
Carmen Agra Deedy- An award-winning author and storyteller, Deedy is also an accomplished lecturer, having been a guest speaker for both the TED and TEDx Conferences, the Library of Congress, Columbia University, the National Book Festival, and the Kennedy Center, among other distinguished venues. A life-long supporter of the institution, she opened the 2016 Art of the Book Lecture Series for the Smithsonian Libraries.

This is a method that can be used to improve as an educator. In previous education classes, we did reports based on observing online classrooms, where I was able to get to know some teachers’ practices when it comes to reading. I plan to keep observing not just virtual classrooms but face-to-face learning environments as well. This practice will support my knowledge in reading and will help improve it by adding other educators’ techniques and tools. How others approach reading in the classroom is something that is innovative and that differs from every learning environment, thus is helpful to observe due to how every day we learn something different.

Working as a team is something that I want to practice when it comes to reading. As colleagues, we can read and share articles. What I may think about a certain topic, others may not. Different points of view can help us improve our way of thinking and seeing things. There’s an article I would read and share with teammates, “Effective Practices for Developing Reading Comprehension,” by Nell K. Duke and David Pearson. There can be a list of articles or journals to read as teammates, that will help us all to improve our teaching practices when it comes to reading.
