         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Europeans felt that they were superior to both the Africans and the Native Americans.<br>In addition to how the English felt about Natives, they also had their own unique religious beliefs. The English were Protestants or "Puritans" who were Christian, yet separate from the Catholic church. Some English seeked the New World for the purpose of avoiding persecution for their religious beliefs and to find religious freedoms.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Africans had well developed economies and political systems. In upper Guinea, African societies used the Mediterranean to trade ivory, gold, and slaves for finished goods. Ghana had one of the largest empires of the time and developed a trade center called Timbuktu. Southern Africans lived in villages and had little contact with Europeans. Southern Africans traded, made their own good, fished, raised livestock, and were strong in producing crops.&nbsp; Some interior Africans were nomadic. They killed of incredible amounts of Natives by passing on disease and by brutal slaughtering. However, as time went on, the Spanish found themselves associating with the Natives. Some Natives were under the pressure of being converted to Catholicism, while others were being murdered for being "in the way".&nbsp;<br>The Iroquois, the more violent of the native groups started conflict with the French and the Algonquins.</div>]]></description>

When they established their colonies in North America, such as Quebec, they also established a close relationship with the natives. The French practiced close trade and relations with the natives, and saw the Algonquians as their allies. They would later become involved in a conflict vs. the Iroquois.</div>]]></description>
