While the notion of lowering the affect filter is something that I'm always thinking about, and that I sometimes roll my eyes at for those students who are "coddled", I am totally open to trying out the posters to add the PHYSICAL aspect of pointing to a staple item in the classroom. I love that Monica has seen success with the poster and that motivates me to want to try it out!

Getting the students to want to try, to participate, so they can see the value in trying. Regarding the discussion of memorizing, I try to remind the students that memorizing is a critical skill, and that memorizing frees them up to use the language more confidently.
