These talents help take your mind off of things. for instance, in the wren and the sparrow the wren play a song and everyone stopped listened then joined in. In Hana's suitcase when Hana did art in the attic it took her mind of of a lot of bad things happening arounder. For example she made art when her grandma was sick and dying. I don't get how you are able to take your mind off of those terrible things. But I think that when adults here music or see people practicing the arts, I assume that it may relieve their stress. In the Wren and the Sparrow,  they teach the kids to play music, and I think that they teach the kids music to show that even in the hard times, there is still a positive side to it. Some of the Jews who went to concentration camps were artists. They never got to practice their talents, so they showed many of the kids how to draw and it may have helped them forget about the bad times. During these bad days, I think that playing music or doing art helped them show their feelings without getting in trouble by the Nazis. Many of the Jew probably felt scared to show their  feeling to the world, one of the ways they could show their feelings safely. Maybe if people in the ghettos get scared and just want to get their minds off the bad things, they would draw or sing. Thought these things come at high cost. If you sang, you would have to sing lightly so the Nazis do not hear them. Also if they wanted to teach the kids to express their feelings on paper, they would have to sneak paper into the the barracks. Many of them being very talented, who didn't even get the opportunity for music classes, art classes etc..  In a way, during this time, art was a way to express your feelings, and emotions. You couldn't cry, risking the Nazis would here you so you drew, or painted a picture. When I play instruments, and go into a song, all of my thoughts disappear, and I just play. For these kids playing their music, may have made there awful thoughts disappear. and just get lost in the music. This was probably one of the ways they coped with all of their fears.  When the Nazis took away there instruments, I can just imagine how hard  that could have been. All of there hard work had just disappeared. Once Hitler had stolen there instruments, another one of their hopes was art. Being in the Ghetto, living in fear, you had to find ways to express yourself with the little amount you had. Many found that art was a solution. You could make crayons out of wax, or you could just gather up things you already had. It helped them think good things in the hardest times. Made them think  good instead of bad. They could still learn have fun and play like every other kid. To put there thoughts on paper must have been very helpful. Like in the beginning  of the book Hana and George put there frustrations down on paper, they felt better. Even before they went to camps these sort of lessons with friends wern't aloud, Maybe doing these things made them feel lucky.
