Her words actually brought tears to our eyes -- noting that we had served our division by representing a love for our kids, our community, & our school division.

Though the circumstances that brought me there are difficult, I have enjoyed working with you and your staff. Another celebration is that when I had a student pass out and need to go to Martinsville Hospital, an administrator from Central Office met me there and stayed and aided the family--that's what all seven schools are ---OUR Families--I love our team!

But, the addition to our ID/Transitional Autism Classroom has been a major bright spot for our school. It is truly the happiest place at HRMS. It has been incredible to see each of the children grow. ]]> 2017-10-17 21:39:54 UTC https://padlet.com/cyndi_williams/4831g93aaj4z/wish/198035355 PSPS https://padlet.com/cyndi_williams/4831g93aaj4z/wish/198218133 It has been a great day at Patrick Springs from Back to School Night to today, the 50th day of school.  The teachers and staff have all embraced me as the new principal.  Teachers and TAs are working in small groups in both reading and math and using that data to ensure our tier 2 and tier 3 students are getting the double or triple intervention they need.

We had a particularly successful colleague visit to Meadows of Dan a few weeks ago. Within a few days of that visit I observed the Blue Ridge teacher implementing similar reading strategies in her small group instruction.
I am still "learning the ropes," but I have a great faculty and staff beside me, willing to share ideas and problem solve each issue we encounter.  The positive attitudes make BRES a great place to be! 
We also celebrated two new births in our staff families--on the same day, no less! On Friday, October Iris Adams was born to Phillip and Carol Adams, and Brewer Livingood was born to Brett and Brook Livengood.

Our "Cardinal Pride" PBIS is off to a great start and students are really excited about being rewarded for their positive behavior.

Our after school programs are well attended (44 in our Wednesday Enrichment Program) and yes...that is more than half of our school :-) Students are also loving the digital learning lab and we have added that to our P 1/2 H schedule.

For the first time in 4 years, I feel we are utilizing our master schedule to have the most impact on student learning.   We have a remediation block for each grade level and a support staff member is in every room during that time.  Teachers did not complain about giving up one of their computer lab planning times to make the schedule work best for students!

The students have been excited and they are following the rules the majority of the time. The number of teachers who have just taken off with Google classroom and interactive teaching has been phenomenal. 

Special Olympic Field Day on Oct. 6th was like Disney World for those that attended. Coach Slaydon and his group were awesome. Petting Zoo, Bouncy Houses, with lots of laughter and smiles. Our young folks are just wonderful too.
