PTSD is when someone has gone through a traumatic experience and they now get flashbacks, and trauma when they hear or see a similar thing that takes them back to that time.

This can occur through terrorist attacks because it is a traumatic event and people would have to witness a lot of gruesome events this could be people seriously injured like missing arms/legs this would be traumatic because you wouldn’t see this and it would be out of the ordinary and be worrying.

An example of when it can occur in terrorist attacks like the 7/7 London bombing, Manchester Bombing or anything that would cause you a lot of stress and panic making you relive these even when in dreams, or through noises or the things that you see.

In the 7/7 London bombing is when 4 coordinated suicide bombers carried out by Islamic terrorist that targeted communities that were on London transport during the morning rush hour. They killed 50people and seriously injured 700 more people leaving them with missing limbs, scars and mental health problems such as PTSD. This will effect them for their whole lives as they have gone through a traumatic experience and would also have survivors guilt making them feel very guilty for still being alive as there was many people that didn’t get the same opportunity.

The impact of tourism

After a terrorist attack happens tourism would drastically decrease because people would be scared and worried to go to the place of the incident in case it happens again or because it would perhaps bring back memories or being difficult to look at the after effect of everything that happened.

In the early 2000s tourism was very low when a terrorist attack had happened because it was around the time 9/11 happened and everyone was scared for their safety and welfare in society however as the years went on tourism began to rise arguable because people don’t want to have to be held back on the things that they want to do because of the terrorist.

In the future I think that I increase peoples safety and to make them feel more comfortable when travelling on trains or tubes is to make a couple police officers with dogs that can sniff and detect bombs and make people that have bags and bigger shoes/baggy cloths to be checked by the dogs as it will ensure that when people go onto the trains they would be more at ease and relaxed to know that they are safe and nothing will happen.

The economy will be effected by any terrorist attacks that happens because they will have a loss of money in public areas like large shops or any concerts because people would be worried that they are not safe and that they could be injured. This will be a substantial loss of money because people wouldn’t want it be travelling to different countries and therefore their would be a mass loss of money as no one would visit the country meaning flights, hotels and everything that a tourist would rely on wouldn’t be used

Impact on British Values

Tolerance is when you accept what people believe and what they want to do without judgement. This would be if they have a belief or if they have a religion then you shouldn’t discriminate them because of it. This is really important because everyone is different however you shouldn’t discriminate because of it.

However, if someone is radicalising you that would mean they are not following the British Values as they are not respecting others views or their opinions and their beliefs this would impact the society because it is taking away peoples personal views and the way they want to live their lives instead they are forcing people to follow and express their views by making it sound a lot better than it actually is. This can be incredibly dangerous as it can therefore make people join cults or terrorist groups as they are getting told that they will be safe and get an amazing life if that is a fighter or a women to help bring a new generation and to look after the fighters.

Terrorism could’ve stopped people from showing tolerance because they could be worried that if their views get out to people that they may disagree and therefore be in danger or that if they are discriminated and judged because of their beliefs and views this could make people very reserved and become hidden because they don’t think that their views can be shared.

Darren Osborne carried out a terrorist attackers in Finsbury Park intending to kill a number of Muslims in London and is going to be spending 43 years in prison. Darren drove a van into a mosque killing 1 person and seriously injuring 12 other people just because they were Muslims. However in the weeks prior was described to be a violent alcoholic that was incredibly angry and troubled. Furthermore, before the attack it is said that he was radicalised over the internet by people trying to spread their hatred towards Muslim people on the basis of their religion.

In the future the British values could begin to become very undervalued and not cared about because people would be too scared about terrorism if it begins to get worse and out of control this would mean that Britain wouldn’t be a safe place and the economy would also be massively effected because tourism would massively decrease as well because they wouldn’t be able to feel safe in the country and always be worried of an attack that could happen.

Respect is very important because you need to make sure that you show respect for everyone’s thoughts and feelings even if you do not agree with what they want to do.

Terrorism might have effected people showing respect to other’s because no one knows who to trust and possibly worried as everyone is unpredictable and anything could happen any time making them become very reserved and begin to not respect everyone else because they don’t think they deserve it or they do not know what could happen if they start to disagree with the other person.

Additionally, some British people might find it difficult to respect other peoples beliefs and their views because they might have the same beliefs as those who conduct terrorist attacks therefore people may believe that they are also terrorist or that they agree with what the terrorist do. This could then gain fear among people in the community even if they are harmless because instead of understanding who they are they would end up judging and being stereotypical towards them.

For example, Shamima Begum is a women that is currently living in a refugee camp as when she was 15 she and her friends were radicalised into leaving the country and moving and joining IS Shamima Begum is an example because if she was to come back to the country nobody would respect her and would accept her in the community because of everything that she has done and the danger that she has put people in. They not only wouldn’t accept her they would also be worried as she is a liability in the country and could still put a lot of people in danger. This not only happened when she was younger but she is still trying to get into the UK now and constantly is appealing to enter the UK again. In February 2024 she appealed again and got rejected showing that people don’t want her back and that it would disrupt the country.

In the future, to gain better respect in the UK I think that people need to just respect and understand that everyone is different and not everyone is going to cause danger and that people need to stop judging and stereotyping people just because of what they look like or what they believe. This is important because everyone is equal and shouldn’t be discriminated because of it.

In comparison, if you have complete tolerance for someone that would mean that you wouldn’t care what they have done and that you accept and forgive them no matter what they have done this is different to respect because people don’t respect everyone especially if they have done something wrong like terrorism because that effects everyone’s life not only that single persons.

Community inclusion is when you use your local facilities such as any local shops, libraries, sports centres. Along with helping people in your community with your skills that you have of making relationships with everyone.

Terrorism would stop community inclusion because people would be questioning if they are able to trust anyone and would be worried and on edge with what their neighbours are capable of doing. This could impact the community because it could cause a lot of unease and worry possibly causing arguments and up-rival within the community even if it is safe.

For example, the Finsbury Park attack was likely to stop community inclusion because people wouldn’t know who to trust and people would also jump to conclusions as they would stereotype people that have the same beliefs as the terrorist.

In the future I think to show better community inclusion people shouldn’t judge and stereotype others just because of what they believe or the way they live their lives.

In comparison, people won’t care as much about community inclusion if a terrorist attack happened because they wouldn’t be able to trust the people that they are living near this is because they wouldn’t know what they are like and if they would do anything similar.
