Powell is finally opening up about his feelings and expressing his love for a woman. Bottling all the feelings inside and finally coming to the realization that he can love a woman, and give her his all is the only thing he wants to do. Appreciating every aspect of this woman: from the way she walks, talks, smiles, and uplifts him. He wants to be there with her for every moment and claim this woman as his own. Giving her his all if she's willing to do the same for him. She's the only woman he wants and he doesn't want any other woman, and no other woman can have his attention the way she does. Powell is addressing the stereotype that men can't express their feelings or talk about their emotions. Hinting at the fact he's never talked to his woman about the way he feels for her or said the things he loves about her. He wants to solidify their relationship and be only about her from this day forward. The song can make any listener feel the need to express their feelings to their partner and appreciate them more. Noticing the little things and not taking them for granted. If the listeners watch the video as well they can see the appreciation and love he has for his woman; serenading her in their home and while she's at work. The video itself shows him having phone numbers from multiple women over time, but ultimately choosing the woman he's currently with and wanting to take things more seriously and only wanting her. Not letting any other man or woman get in between their relationship and being committed to each other.

"You" by Jesse Powell has been one of my favorite songs since I was a child. From the first time I heard it at my parents wedding I knew it held significance. Powell had a great tenor voice and knew how to draw an audience in with his voice. For me it helps me realize that it's totally okay to express your feelings for another person, whether you're a man or woman it's important to let your partner know how you're feeling. Commitment is something many people struggle with and this song highlights how change was necessary for him to take the relationship more seriously. The message Jesse gives throughout the song makes me think about the way I've approached people in the past and what I could've done differently. Overall I've become more aware that people like assurance and want to know that they're loved and important in others lives, and it doesn't hurt to show appreciation and love to others.
