Plants play a serious roll in sustaining all natural ecosystems as well as societal needs. Plants expel oxygen as well as provide food for animals. Man has also domesticated plants for agricultural, medical, and cultural purposes. Plants are a vital asset to keeping all living organisms alive.

This animation was chosen due to the fact that it illustrates the key parts to the photosynthesis process. The arrows guide the viewer through the plant taking in solar energy, carbon dioxide, and water. This combination is then filtered through the plant. The creation and release of chlorophyll, oxygen, and glucose will ensue thereafter.

Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center's website contains a list of plants from the various land plant types. These records were provided by the horticulture department at The University of Georgia along with other credible sources. It lists the taxonomic name, common names, and an image of the plant as well. If you click on the image, the website will transport you to a page with additional information as well as more pictures. Conditions such as the amount of sunlight required for the plant and the moisture of the soil are noted along with other environmental factors.

The world biome I believe is in the most danger of ecological change is the Amazon Rainforest. Deforestation has been a serious problem in Brazil. There has been an astronomical increase in wildfires within the last year, and the Amazon has lost around one fifth of the rainforest over the last fifty years due to deforestation. This is a threat to Brazil's neighboring countries as well. The wildfire that took place this past July and August bled into Peru, Argentina, Paraguay, and Bolivia before it was contained. This is a major concern seeing as the Amazon is noted as the Lungs of the Earth.
