Dozens of online sites offer TTS tools with "nice" machine accents. But finding a free solution with a voice that sounds human, is still a challenge.
For me, Acapela Box is the best, while IBM Bluemix and TTSReader are passable. However, Acapela has recently added a background loop to any speech produced without subscription, so it cannot be used for free any longer. TTSReader gives a great advice how to record audio played on PC speakers.

Instant Speech Replay

Originally created just for fun, this tool allows you to train pronunciation. Put on earphones, set delay to 1 sec and press On button to start training. Listen to authentic pronunciation of a word or a short phrase, then say it yourself, trying to imitate native speech - and you will instantly hear your speech replayed. Repeat the cycles of listening, speaking and comparing your pronunciation with authentic one, and your pronuncuation will gradually improve. Unlike other recorders, this tool does not require to press start/stop/play buttons, so you may focus solely on pronunciation.
