School culture creates successful teams because people have to feel they have influence in decision making. "The feeling of empowerment that comes from successful influence not only enhances efficacy, but also results in increased engagement and a desire to be involved (Donohoo 43). The articles explains that staff members need to feel influential in decisions and empowered to make decisions. It also explains there should be collective purpose and goals. I am not sure how to create this where it doesn't feel mandated. However, I do feel that when people have influence and skills are taught to collaborate people will step up to challenges that will make enormous impacts on students.

I hope this course is going well for you. I am so looking forward to the Thanksgiving holiday next week. As a Canadian working in an American school overseas I find it such a great bonus!

I'm thinking I will post ideas here for the collaborative tool we have been tasked to create.

My first idea (keep in mind this is before doing the readings!): an infographic. We could each choose the same template on a free platform like canva.com, and then each choose a theme or topic that emerges from the readings. I look forward to hearing about your ideas!
