The Crucible, by Arthur Miller, is easily compared to the historical event, the Holocaust. Unfortunately, both instances tortured innocent people and caused irrational fears, but the Crucible allowed the accused to testify and the Holocaust killed people without trial.

This event led to over 200 false accusations against “witches” that caused the deaths of 24 innocent people. In a similar aspect, Adolf Hitler sparked the fear of Jews with his racist speeches and propaganda which led to the mass genocide of almost an entire race, with 6 million Jews killed in cold blood. Characteristics that would likely get someone accused of witchcraft in Salem was if that person had a bad reputation and/or if they were considered an outsider. This situation is like the Holocaust because people of the Jewish faith were terrorized for religious beliefs.
