         <description><![CDATA[<p>1. **Raiders**: People who attack and loot places.  </p><p>   - Example: The Vikings were known as fierce raiders who attacked coastal villages.  </p><p><br/></p><p>2. **Traders**: People who buy and sell goods.  </p><p>   - Example: Arab traders traveled long distances to exchange spices and silk.  </p><p><br/></p><p>3. **Intrepid explorers**: Brave adventurers who explore unknown regions.  </p><p>   - Example: Christopher Columbus was an intrepid explorer who sailed to the Americas.  </p><p><br/></p><p>4. **Norsemen**: People from Scandinavia, especially during the Viking Age.  </p><p>   - Example: The Norsemen sailed their longships to raid and trade across Europe.  </p><p><br/></p><p>5. **Sagas**: Old Norse stories about heroic deeds and history.  </p><p>   - Example: The *Saga of Erik the Red* tells of Viking voyages to Greenland.  </p><p><br/></p><p>6. **Colonization**: Establishing control over a foreign land and its people.  </p><p>   - Example: The British colonization of India lasted for nearly 200 years.  </p><p><br/></p><p>7. **Blacksmiths**: Craftsmen who make and repair iron tools and weapons.  </p><p>   - Example: Medieval blacksmiths forged swords and armor for knights.  </p><p><br/></p><p>8. **Leather workers**: People who craft items from animal hides.  </p><p>   - Example: Leather workers made shoes, belts, and saddles in ancient times.  </p><p><br/></p><p>9. **Monasteries**: Religious communities where monks live and worship.  </p><p>   - Example: The monks in the monastery spent their days praying and copying manuscripts.  </p><p><br/></p><p>10. **Pillagers**: People who rob and destroy, especially during wars.  </p><p>    - Example: The invading army acted as pillagers, looting villages and burning homes.  </p><p><br/></p><p>11. **Extortion**: Forcing someone to give money or favors through threats.  </p><p>    - Example: The gang leader was arrested for extortion after demanding protection money.  </p><p><br/></p><p>12. **Danegeld**: Payments made to Vikings to stop their raids.  </p><p>    - Example: Anglo-Saxon kings paid Danegeld to keep Viking raiders away.  </p><p><br/></p><p>13. **Runes**: Ancient Germanic letters used in writing by Vikings.  </p><p>    - Example: The runes carved on the stone told the story of a great warrior.  </p><p><br/></p><p>14. **Allthing**: A Viking assembly or governing council.  </p><p>    - Example: The Allthing in Iceland was an early form of a democratic meeting.  </p><p><br/></p><p>15. **Embark**: To begin a journey, especially by ship.  </p><p>    - Example: The explorers embarked on a voyage to discover new lands.  </p><p><br/></p><p>16. **Expedition**: A journey undertaken for a specific purpose, like exploration.  </p><p>    - Example: Lewis and Clark led an expedition to map the American West.  </p><p><br/></p><p>17. **Ferocious**: Extremely fierce or violent.  </p><p>    - Example: The ferocious lion scared away the other animals.   </p>]]></description>
