It is understood by many people around the world and serves to  assist in communicating with nearly all the people around the world, even through the internet, teaching of immigrant students and in finding and maintaining a job, since it is the most spoken language and it is essential in our education. The knowledge of 
English as a language  communication increases income.
In a global market place, you can reach more customers if you can speak their language. You can source better and cheaper raw material if you can communicate with a supplier from a far off place who doesn't know your language.
