On this course I learnt a lot of different things. I learnt what communication is and all the different things to keep in mind when communicating with other people. The barriers and stratagies for effective communication will be in the back of my head when communicating with colleagues, pupils, parents and friends. I will also teach my pupils how to communicate and make them reflect on their communication.

I really liked the mosaic part of this course. For me it was an eye-opener that I really liked to do this and I’m sure I will continue to mosaic when I’m back home. For me, it’s really relaxing. I’m happy we gave our work to the school in Sainte-Anne to add a bit of color to the school

That I loved being around with the people of the course. That we had the same perception in completing the mozaïek. I feel satisfied...learned that I must enjoy life to the fullest
The communication skills I take with me...
I thank Rita for the beautiful ambiance of the course. I felt very welkome. Guadaloupe and her history was an eye-opener. Visiting the museum made me small...we have to do it together on this planet.

I learned a lot about communication, Exploring communication while creating a mosaic is unique and inspired me. The short film of Chimanda Ngozi Adicie connected all the things I learned during the course. The visit to the slavery Musée was very impressive and clarify the explanation of the importance of the knowledge of culture. I am very grateful that I followed the course with beautiful people and a very good teacher.

Evaluation of Sheila:
It was a very instructive course in a beautiful and inspiring environment. It is precisely on this island with its beautiful nature, the friendly people who live there and the relaxed atmosphere that you can take a break from your daily activities. This allowed me to fully focus on the course, and spend time with my colleagues in a minful way. Working together on the mosaicproject was also super fun to do, a special way to leave something beautiful behind for the students and teachers. For me, this course came just at the right time after a stressful period. That is also the most important thing I have learned: take time for yourself and the other, take time to let your head think clearly again. For my work this means: really seeing the other person and listening carefully to what is being said. And not just in words, but especially in non-verbal communication and the context of the situation. Rita has made me more aware that communication is all-encompassing. That we as human beings still have a lot to learn in this, but with the right intentions, patience, kindness and respect we can achieve a lot. I am very grateful to have been able to take this course.

during this course I realized that communication is so much more then just have a talk/ conversation with the other. The key competences made this more clear. I really liked it that Rita gave examples to clarify. In session 4 I learned that only 7 prc of communication is spoken words, so non- verbal and the use of our voice is such a big opponent in communication. Making the quiz made me realize that I have to be aware of my communication so this will make me more alert. The cross cultural communication I found especially very interesting and a eye opener. I also liked to learn more about the island, it’s culture, the locals and its vegetarian, Rita knows so much about that. Making the mosaic together and bringing it to the school, meet the children was a great experience. This course made me a different person, thank you for that 😘

I enjoyed learning about communication and the connection to art and mosaic in the afternoon. We covered all different kind of parts of communication. I enjoyed a lot the session were we all had to present a key competence in communication to the group. Also I found the session about intercultural communication very usefull. We are an muliticultural school and we got really good practices to use in class. The games and videos were really helpful to understand the topic. The mosaic is a kind of communication too, small pieces make a bigger picture. I also noticed this in our group, all theory about the communication we learned in the morning were used during the mosaic in the afternoon. All the mosaic techniques were really fun to learn. I am not really creative, but it was interesting to do for once. I enjoyed the time with the mosaic. The fact we gave our mosaic work to a local school as a gift is really a plus. We got in contact with locals, pupils and teachers and were able to share what we have learned, mosaic and communication techniques at the school. Learning outside in a outdoor classroom, learning through experience and learning from Rita was really educational, and useful in my class.
