Many children with disabilities are singled out of the classroom and many other social activities, this makes them feel below other and like they are different and aren't enough. This story shows us how having a disability does not define you and how powerful it can really be to just be yourself and not let others get in the way of you. It is so encouraging to see how a student can transform themselves from being ashamed to using their disability as a superpower and showing everyone that she is just like the rest of them. I will totally use this story in ym future classroom and I think students will love to hear about it.

Lastly, the third pig builds a strong house of bricks, so when the wolf comes to the door, he can't blow the house down.

Title: Baseball Saved Us
Author: Ken Mochizuki
Illustrator: Dom Lee
Publisher: ‎Lee & Low Books
Date: March 1993
# of Pages: 32
Grade Level: K-3
Genere: Fiction

Personal Response: Throughout this book, the universal themes of dignity and self respect are shown often and are proved by the actions of the characters. This story is about a little boy and his father's experiences at a Japanese-American internment camp during World War II. While living inside the camp for a long period of time, they built a baseball field to pass time and find joy in this terrible environment. This shows the reader that when brought together, everyone can look past differences and spend time with each other. The characters are shown as intimidated boys that are scared to play baseball with people of all different sizes, who are all much bigger than them. Shorty, a character who was not the best at baseball and is struggling in the camp, is up to bat and has 2 strikes. He begins to trust himself and hits a great ball to win the game. This shows Shorty that he just needed to have self respect and trust in himself and he was successful.

Visual Representation: In my visual representation I chose to include 6 main events that occurred throughout the book. These events were very important and really highlighted the main purpose and idea that was trying to be portrayed.

While reading this book I do get a sense of hope for Jordan, in finding his place in this new environment. There are many examples of Jordan trying to make friends and this shows the reader that it is totally possible to find a place in a new environment. This story is a representation of a thin disguise for a heavy-handed moral lesson because Jordan's feelings about being different and feeling out of place and this causes him to look deeper in his character and find out how he really feels. I think that this story is very realistic and believable and these events are things that students regularly feel. It is inevitable that students will feel out of place at a new school.

I absolutely loved the message that this book portrayed to all of the readers. No matter your age, we all experience both negative and positive self-talk and I think it is so important to be introducing these topics at a young age so that students are aware of themselves as well as others around them. Being different can be scary for some students, but as future educators, we must make sure all students feel equal and included no matter what their difference might be. I love how this book emphasized that differences are what make us unique and no difference is a bad difference.

Each poem inside this collection reflects on the bombing of Pearl Harbor, the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, and the aftermath of both infamous WWII events. Throughout the book we are able to pause and reflect on these events and how they made us feel while reading. I think this is super interesting because it gives us the opportunity to place ourselves in the shoes of those who experienced these events and see how life changing they were.

This book was a great read and I would reccommend it to anyone.

Feelings of this sort have a heavy influence on student's performance in school and attitude toward such activities. When students feel left out, excluded, and as if they do not belong where they are, they tend to back away from the idea of school completely. I have never had feelings like this at a deep level, however, I can compare these experiences to mine of moving away to college. I am not from Idaho, so when I first moved here to start school I felt lost. I did not know anyone and was not aware of anything that was going on around me. These types of changes can be extremely hard for people and are difficult to get used to. I can relate to Angelina in a sense that I was lost and felt out of place, but once I got into my rhythm and found my place, it was much better.

I think that the message behind it is something great to bring into the light especially for young students. Being able to teach students that beauty can be found from the inside and not only the outside is a very important message to portray. This story is told in a narrative style, and the illustrations matched the tone and style of the book. There was some usage of cultural terms, however, I think that there could have been more in order for the reader to fully understand what was being told. Overall, I would classify this book as a great piece of literature that I would definitely recommend to teachers in the future.

He goes on an adventure to find the button and the little girl comes back and buys him with her own money. Once the baby bird is born the mother goes out to find it food, however, in this case the baby bird went out to look for it's mother. The problem is that the baby bird does not know what it's mother looks like. The bird goes to a kitten, hen, and a dog before finding it's mother. This is a great book to show the relationship between a child and their mother and is a great read.

Their responses represent their observations of the people and animals around them. This shows repetition and how a question can travel from one person/thing to another person/thing. Because of this, bedtime becomes a whole drama filled section of the day. When mama llama leaves the room, baby llama starts to whimper and begins to get louder and louder until mama llama comes back to see what is wrong. The lesson this story is trying to tell is that no matter what, mama will always be with you, even if it feels like she is so far away. This is so important to teach young children because they are all experiencing leaving their parents for the first time at this age.
