Please note, some walking is inevitable, but very long distances are not part of the plan for the day.

There are other photographic exhibitions on at the V&A we'll look at, but for the exhibition of works from the photography archive, please find and photograph images you find particularly interesting and which relate to the KEY CONCEPTS you have identified from the module teaching to date.

You may find some photographic works and photographers who seem to perfectly conceptualise for you these interests.

• spend time in front of images; prolonged visual experience is often rewarded with seeing more, establishing a 'relationship' with the image, allowing time to facilitate your individual thinking about what you are seeing; its sounds simple but we rarely do it. So please do.

• photograph carefully and extensively the works that interest you.

• read and explore the text panels that accompany the images; think about how they situate the work, and what they enable you to understand about the work.

• what else do you notice about the work?

Display:

• How are photographs displayed?

• What are some of the display characteristics which you have identified work to link images thematically?

• Are there aspects of display that you feel are borrowed / reference other visual cultural forms, for instance, film, stage lighting / theatre or museum specific forms?

• Which forms of display work successfully, and which less so?

Make copious photographs and notes to add to your Key Concept mind-maps boards.

1. MP and Dissertation. Think about the project proposal you have developed and shared with your group (Media Project) OR the area of research you are exploring (Dissertation) and consider the following;

   
   

   Identify select two or three pieces of work / display / installation where the APPROACH used or the SUBJECT MATTER explored relates to Media Communications / Culture. Articulate how these pieces work within themes you're aware of within our programme, and how you are understanding them. Are these linking to themes you have considered through your initial research activities?

   
   

2. Media Project. Think about the forms of display that you have noticed. What, in terms of scale, ambition and design do you find appropriate for particular exhibitions / works / displays? What didn't work well? Why?

     Were specific subject matters displayed      appropriately, do you think? Can you consider alternatives and justify your decisions?
