In the Autumn Term, we focused on our families and what makes them special and unique. We shared family photographs from home and created our own family pictures in lots of different ways.

Spot the Difference - Old and new modes of transport

We have been looking at pictures of old and new transport. The children looked closely at the photographs and circled the differences they could find.

A - "This one has wheels."

J - "The old aeroplane has a propeller."

The children looked closely at pictures of old bikes and commented on what they could see.

The children looked at photographs of new bikes and commented on what they could see, they also compared what bikes would have been like before to what they are like now.

Reuben ~ “It’s an old fashioned bus the new bus has seats on the top”
Amelia ~ this is an old plane you can’t get many people on it. The old buggy has bigger wheels it has a roof and new one doesn’t. It has lots of rust so it’s old.
Edith ~ this is an old airplane because it doesn’t have any seats.
Mia ~ this is the new bike because the wheels are the same size.
Fatimah ~ it’s an old train because it’s got steam. This boat is old because it has steam coming out.
Darcie ~ it’s a old boat it has chimneys.
Arthus Ivor ~ it has a horse so it’s old and slow.

We had a visit from the Rural life museum. We learnt about what school would have been like in Victorian times. We dressed up in Victorian costumes as well as doing some reading, writing and arithmetic. We also learnt to sow and looked at some Victorian artefacts.
