On June 1919, Palmer's house was bombed by a series of mail bombs due to his opinion and actions towards civil liberties. </div>]]></description>

It targeted the beauty standard for women and advertised products such as "wrinkle cream" and other beauty products. Women were depicted as weak and silent housewives in the advertisements. They were also shown as sex objects.&nbsp;Other products included new dishwashers,vacuums, fridges, etc. The most popular brand was KitchenAid. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1901. He first began in a Colored Waifs Home as a juvenile delinquent where he learned to play the cornet. As he is a famous jazz musician, he was initially inspired by King Oliver, a jazz cornet musician.  He eventually replaced Oliver in the Kid Ory band in 1918. He played second cornet along with Oliver with an Orleans ensemble styled band. He married his wife Lil Hardin in 1924 which inspired him to continue as a soloist where he began his road trip to fame. He became famous by 1929. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>An estimate of 1,300 gangs has appeared in the 1920's. Popular people in gangs include Bonnie &amp; Clyde, Al Capone, and John Dillinger. Gangs included Chicago Outfit Gang and Barrow Gang. Crime increased due to the prohibition laws and economic depression. Jobs were scarce and people were poor and had to provide for their families. The St. Valentine's Day Massacre was a day that Al Capone ordered the assassination of 7 men. Al Capone and his men dressed as police and shot the Moran Gang against a wall. Al Capone got away with this. </div>]]></description>

It happened October 29th, 1929, when Wall Street investors traded 16 million shares on the New York Stock Exchange in a single day. Billions were lost which wiped out thousands of investors. What caused the Great Depression is the fast expansion of the stock market. By 1929 production had declined and unemployment has risen, which left stocks in great excess of their real value. </div>]]></description>

Only 250,000 people out of 37 million people were divorced. By 1920 black women were more likely to be married than white women. Black families tended to be bigger than white families.          <description><![CDATA[<div>It was based on a quota that stated that only 2% of each nationality can enter the US. It completely excluded immigrants from Asia. Back in 1917 they conducted a literary test for everyone above 16 to prove that they can read. It also increased taxes for immigrants and gave guards more control on who can enter. It excluded anyone from the “Asiatic Barred Zone”&nbsp;besides Filipinos and Japanese. Back in 1907 the Japanese government had voluntarily excluded Japanese from entering the US with the gentleman's agreement. Chinese were also not granted immigration from the Chinese Exclusion Act.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Margaret Sanger</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Margaret was a radical who believed the only way to change the law was to break it. She brought birth control and contraceptives to women under Com stock laws. Her overall goal was to find a contraceptive that was not painful and would stop unwanted pregnancies. She wanted this due to her mother's strain of eleven childbirths and seven miscarriages. She then became a nurse in NYC where she saw the issue mainly with immigrant women. Many of those women sought to 5 dollar abortions in alley ways. She was arrested in 1916 for opening a birth control clinic. Finally, in 1921 she joined an American Birth Control League which lead to the Planned Parenthood Federation. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>It was done by flapper women and the younger generation in the 1920's. It was paired with the Charleston song by James P. Johnson. The younger generation let loose in their attire, actions, and attitudes. Women cut their hair, wore shorter skirts, and just let loose. They also drank and smoked. Dancing became more wild and uninhibited. The Charleston dance came from Trinidad, Nigeria, and Ghana.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

Sports were idolized just as Hollywood was. Famous players were Jack Dempsey, Johnny Weissmuller, Helen Wills, 'Red' Grange, Gertrude Ederle, Joe Lweis, Satchel Paige and Babe Ruth. Only 10% of women were educated in which they required physical education. Women played sports such as bowling, golf, boating, ice skating, tennis, archery, swimming, and horseback riding.<br><br><br></div>]]></description>
