In 1950 in the Quito city center, ( In 1950s at the colonial historical city center of Quito) there were two outdoors fairs, ¨Plaza La Marin¨ and ¨Plaza de San Blas¨.
In an unfortunate incident in one of the shacks, a fire broke out that consumed almost all the stalls at ¨San Blas¨ fair.

The merchants of ¨La Marin¨ expressed their solidarity and, afraid that the same thing could happen to them, decided to unite to ask the municipal authorities to donate land where they could build a market.
Finally, the mayor gives them ownership of the land known as ¨El Toril¨ located on Manabí and Av. Pichincha streets.
It was declared as a Healthy Market of Ecuador by the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and in 1952 it was established properly as ¨El Mercado Central¨.

The market "....." opens its doors in 1947, it is located in the city of Riobamba Called ¨Pedro Ignacio Lizarzaburu¨.
They have several typical dishes, one of them is roast pork with potatoes and peanuts, a very typical dish of the place.
I have visited the city but I have not been to the mentioned market.

Central Market of TulcánIt opened its doors on December 7, 2014.It is a recently restored market with a modern façade inside, its exterior is maintained with its old colonial building.The place was restored in 2012 after having remained with its old façade since 1935.The city of Tulcán is the first city in Ecuador to cross the border with Colombia. Most of the hotels and restaurants are located between Bolívar, Boyacá and Sucre streets, it is there where the Central Market of the city of Tulcán is located.This market has an area with fruit and vegetable stalls, a butcher shop and also a juice and smoothie area.Most of the stalls are staffed by older women who have been in this square for a few years. Around the square you also find tables offering a variety of typical sweets, cheeses, figs and breads. Normally the market square is where I go to eat every time I visit it, its typical food better represents the daily reality of a local gastronomy. I frequently visit this market for the delicious baked goods that are there.
