I believe I did have a few who were lower show growth, so that was good because I wasn't sure it was going to happen in the beginning. This is evidenced more by data and the way they respond to various questions when asked during class.

I learned that I can handle it; you always need to pick your battles. Communicate with your partners so you are on the same page. And, you have to meet your students where they are in order for them to be successful in other areas.

As I continue to on my journey of personal development, I know there is more I have to say, more I have to do and more I have to learn. If you stay in my life, I can't move forward.

One the most successful lessons I taught was having students write a letter of support or encouragement to those affected by Hurricane Harvey. It was amazing to see students being so excited about helping others get through a difficult time in their lives. My students wrote the nicest things like, “Don’t give up, no matter what!” and “I will pray for you”. The lesson created a lot of positivity and excitement.

I would have to say that one of the students that really grew the most was Ruben Pineda. Apart from the fact that his grades improved quite a bit, he made many friends, and even became one of my most trustworthy “teacher’s helpers”. He became more interested in school as the year progressed and would tell others to be quiet because he wanted to hear what “the teacher was saying” which made me feel very proud of him.

One of the greatest challenges this year was using Schoology for the first time. It was a bit overwhelming for me, but thankfully I learned a lot thanks to the help of colleagues and to the professional developments offered by Ms. Sokolik.

A word to describe my school year would be “memorable”. It is so nice to arrive to school every day and be welcomed by a sea of smiling faces each and every day. There are so many wonderful things about teaching at Youngblood, but my favorite one is the lovely staff.

I would also like to say goodbye to the past and instead, take the time to do what makes my soul happy. Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

Not to beat myself up over things that I MAY not be able to change. To remain positive and try to show my students how to be motivated, so that they can be successful.
