They were everywhere. Though poor, sometimes even destitute (this means they had no homes), they often were wondrously open and joyful. I marveled at their industry and creativeness, how they performed family chores without complaint, how they made their own toys. They seemed so happy with so little. They collect water from the well which is a deep hole in the ground. They walk a long way to the fields to gather cassava. The children help prepare the cassava for cooking. Cassava needs to be peeled then soaked and finally pounded to make flour.
