One idea I wish the article had expanded on is the difference between the formal and hidden curriculum. The formal curriculum is what is visual to us, like the Ontario curriculum documents, but the hidden curriculum is the ingrained practices and beliefs that shape how we interact with and teach students. Our biases may guide our teaching practices, so it is important to step into teaching with an open mindset and welcome differences.

One thing I wish the article talked more about was how to tackle such an issue in an everchanging world with a curriculum that will also change. Today we may even encounter students who have encountered racism and this makes the matter quite different. I wish the article gave more information to make this eternal in this sense.

One idea that I wish the article expanded on could include making cross-curricular connections to various subject areas to allow for students to make personal connections to relevant information being taught (e.g. personal experiences of discrimination or racism).

This would allow educators to have a better understanding of how to incorporate it into their classroom environment as well as incorporate it into other subjects students are learning about. Through doing this, educators can create real world connections for students to relate to.

As a future educator, I wonder what new policies could be put into place to help students in low economic households be able to have first hand experience with technology.
