The definition of art is, the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination. Typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power. Roman art influenced and introduced us to new styles of art that are used a lot today.

One example of Roman architecture would be the arch, it was important because it could hold more weight and was stronger than other types of structures. This is because the arch would dissipate the force of gravity outward through the curve to the supports at each end. This feature would reduce the tension by a landslide. Here is an example of an arch.

Romans made use of the the mixture of paint from the Egyptians. Romans used the encaustic painting technique a lot for easel paintings. Paint for the encaustic painting technique was made from Vermilion, which made pigments, and wax. The Vermilion was mined at Almaden in Spain.
Roman statues were significant pieces of art. They were 3D models made out of clay, stone, marble, and even concrete. Statues were carved, molded, or chiseled. Roman artists loved statues so much they made a school dedicated for statues. The school was called The Aphrodisias Sculpting School.

Their constructions, many of them still standing, are a testament to their superior engineering skills and ingenuity. Roman engineers improved upon older ideas and inventions to introduce a great number of innovations. They developed materials and techniques that revolutionized bridge and aqueducts’ construction, perfected ancient weapons and developed new ones, while inventing machines that harnessed the power of water. roman engineering accomplishments generated much wealth and prosperity, improving the daily lives of Romans and helping Rome maintain its dominance in Europe and the mediterranean for centuries.

The dome was a Roman achievement because the Romans made it by using the structure of an arch to create a roof. An example of the dome being used is in the Pantheon, which they had a hard time making because they couldn't find a way to build the dome without it being unstable. Eventually they figured to make the bottom portion of the dome out of heavy materials and used lighter ones as they went up. Here's an example of the dome on the Pantheon.

The long straight roads built by the Romans wherever they conquered have, in many cases, become just as famous names in history as their greatest emperors and generals. Building upon more ancient routes and creating a huge number of new ones, Roman engineers were audacious in their plans to join one point to another in as straight a line as possible whatever the difficulties in geography and the costs in manpower. Consequently, roads used bridges, tunnels, viaducts, and many other architectural and engineering tricks to create a series of breathtaking but highly practical monuments which spread from Portugal to Constantinople. The network of public Roman roads covered over 120,000 km, and it greatly assisted the free movement of armies, people, and goods across the empire. Roads were also a very visible indicator of the power of Rome, and they indirectly helped unify what was a vast melting pot of cultures, races, and institutions.

Roman concrete was important because it helped them design complex shapes without joints, it was also easy to use and make. The Romans first made concrete by mixing sand, water and small rocks but eventually added volcano ash which made a stronger form of concrete and led the Romans to using it more. They eventually used concrete to make things like the Pantheon and some of the Colosseum. Heres an example of concrete looks like still wet.

Roman architecture changed history affected the modern world heavily. Like with the arches, we still use them today in bridges and to support heavy structures. We also use the dome as decoration in many structures and buildings as well. But the one thing that influenced us the most was concrete, we use it heavily in buildings because its very useful and practical. In conclusion, the Romans architecture affected us heavily.

Roman art influenced us by giving us the idea of canvases. Romans used portable banners to carry paint and today we use canvases. Roman art changed history because it presented a way of art. Statues were made to look as realistic as possible and inspired the world today to also make some types of art as realistic as possible. Roman paintings also inspired us because without looking at how life-like the paintings are, we probably wouldn't have the ideas and art styles we have today. Therefore, Roman art influenced modern day art.
