One suspense technique the author uses is dramatic irony. For example when the Alien explains what they see looking down on earth they said, "Through the transparent parts you can see their guts. Their feet are round and roll on diagrams--or long measuring tapes--dark&nbsp;</div><div>with white lines." This quote creates suspense because we know that the "guts" are actually the humans inside of the car. The aliens see us the same way we see them.
