Colleagues please make sure that examinees using non US Passports present proof of US residency at every test. An examinee this morning reported to testing with only his non US Passport. He told me that he was told he only needed his non US Passport for his first test. We check all documents at every test. They will need to show proof of US residency every time they come to test in the form of a utility bill, lease motor vehicle registration. A cell phone bill or bank statement will be accepted if the examinee can show a service record of at least 3 months. If an examinee report to testing without all the necessary documents that examinee will not be allowed to test.

This is a hallmark of a good College and Career Readiness program. Attached is a form

created by Gina Wright from DHS to help you discuss goals with your students. Since the MONITORING Visit is coming up Monday and Tuesday, June 3rd and 4th. I will be bringing copies of this form to each site. Plan a lesson using it!!

I just wanted to remind you that the Monitoring Team will be arriving at 3:30 p.m. on Monday afternoon at the Adult Education Center.

Class visits will begin Monday night at 4:30 (or later) depending upon the site(s) selected. At this point sites have not been determined, but we hope to have them identified by tomorrow afternoon (Thursday).

On Tuesday morning Class Visits will resume at 9:00 a.m. Again, sites have not been determined. The Class Visits will end by 11:30. We will also need a “Class Profile” sheet (see attached) completed for each classroom at sites that are scheduled to be visited.

Again, this is only for the sites to be visited. The form should only take a few minutes to complete and will need to be done by each instructor at the site(s).

I know that each of you has been working very hard to help your faculty get prepared, and I am confident that our dedication to the students will be evident at every site.

Thank you for your patience in this situation. As I learn more information, I will send it forward.

I know it seems like we have open enrollment.

HOWEVER, open enrollment is walk in anytime.

Managed enrollment is a set date and time to enter.

Please be aware that we do not have open enrollment, we are

registering more frequently because of the end of the 2002 test.

INTAKE, Your lesson plan is your testing schedule

with the students. You are as responsible for knowing the goal-setting process

as the instructors.

Student Goals that should be recorded in the Permanent Record are short-term academic
goals...like level completion on the TABE and LEIS...and specific academic skills

Long term student goals: what I want to be when I complete my ged...what training I want next

GPS is an acronym for the North Carolina Content Standards
