 Nelson Mandela's life in prison was difficult for him because was not able to see his kids and wife for a long time. He was informed about his son's death in a note, and he was not able to see him. Throught his life in prison, he knew that the only way to be respected was to take baby steps. After he was released from prison, he became non-violent and wanted the people to be also non-vioent. Although his wife wanted to fight against the Europeans, he knew that it will only bring more chaos to the country.
