This part of the painting was the one I liked the most compared to the various works seen at the national. Bronzino was a master in representing the tormenting feeling of jealousy. Watching him I feel fear, anger, hate, despair and anguish. Also the figure is very hidden inside the painting, you don’t notice it immediately, so I like to think that the author wants to represent a sort of silent cry.

I prefer think that it's Judith, a jew strong woman who had defeated the enemy of  her people. When I watch her I see an indredibly strong woman, with no fear and with a lot of courage. She has a set and firm look, she doesn't want that who looks at her is afraind, but she wants who looks at her has to know that she perfectly knows what she did and why...  I would like to see myself in her, and this is the first thing that I thought when I saw this painting.

It is a rather small, square picture of a room with a girl depicted from behind and standing in front of the table. Because of its size and its ordinary subject it might go quite unnoticed, but even though I usually prefer bigger paintings something in it unexpectedly caught my eye. Not only because of its colours, but also because it gave me a sense of tranquility and concern at the same time. I felt calm but also agitated, as if something bad was going to happen to that girl or as if I should not have been looking at that scene. For a brief moment I thought I was somehow violating her intimacy, and at the same I was sorry I couldn’t do anything to help her. It shows the Virgin with two children and an angel with wings of an eagle. 
The thing I liked the most of this painting is the look of the Virgin to the children. I find it confident and lovely. It represents the Virgin sitting on the ground with the Christ Child asleep in her lap, both surrounded by a beautiful and perfectly represented landscape. I love how the Virgin seems to be contemplating her child unaware of what is going on at her back and seems in this way immersed in another dimension. This painting transmits me a sense of calm and quietness, given by the Christ Child who is sleeping undisturbed and confident from his mother protection. On the other side though, the painting also transmits me a feeling of restlessness and a sensation that something unpleasing is going to happen. One of the paintings,seen at the National Gallery,that particularly impressed me was “Rain,Steam and Speed” by William Turner. 

It is a masterpiece in which water, land, sky and a train come together in a tight frame. 

The thing that captured my attention was this sense of confusion given by this admixture of colors coming from different directions and by this

brushstroke that, despite is the protagonist, it allows to shine through the reality; to the left in fact we perceive the presence of a bridge. What transmits me the presence of the train it is a feeling of liberty,the desire to want to break the mask that hides the true reality.

Andrea Mantegna
We are in front of one of the National Gallery’s
fantastic artworks. Preghiera nell'orto is also one of the only italian paintings. The first thing that beckon the public's attention is the sense of depth that comes as soon as you see the paint and it is caused by the intensity of the colours which make the background more well-defined. If you decide to see this artwork it would be better to know what it is represented, because it is interesting the way that Mantegna utilizes to put together various moments of Jesus's capture: they are connected one with each other, but at the same time they could be analysed separately.
