         <description><![CDATA[<div><br><br></div><div>Computers as we know and use them today have become relevant in the last two centuries of the 21 centuries. However, computers have existed in different forms throughout history and they’ve had various forms and functions. To begin with, the earliest form a computer can be considered to be the abacus, a device made of beads and wires, which was used for counting and is still used in some parts of the world to this very day. The difference between a computer and an abacus can seem vast however the principle behind both is making calculations repeatedly, quickly and efficiently, making them similar. Other mechanical calculators such as the Pascaline invented by Blaise Pascal in the 17<sup>th</sup> century qualified as computers of those times as well, since they speeded up calculations significantly. <br><br></div><div><br><br></div><div><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Eventually scientists continued to work these technologies, like those at IBM to bring about the microprocessor revolution where transistors were part of ICs and multiple ICs serving different functions were able to be incorporated into processors. This integration was first known as the LSI( Large Scale Integration), then VLSI(Very Large Scale Integration) and the phase that computer processors are in today can be referred to as the ULSI(Ultra Large Scale Integration).<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The binary system became the basis on which those computers worked and still to this day is the fundamental method behind the functioning of todays microprocessors just that the process has been scaled up to an order in of magnitude in the order of billions. The vacuum tubes gave way to the much more efficient transistor gates, that used less electricity and allowed for the miniaturization of processors. Transistor gates allowed for efficient operation as well as a hundred percent reliability since they did not fail in the same manner vacuum tubes did. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The modern computer as its used today came about due to the outbreak of war. During the war, massive undertaking took place to develop computers to carry our complex trajectory calculations for bombing scenarios. An example of this early computer the Z1 was based on devices called vacuum tubes. Vacuum tubes were bulbs that signified 1 when they were switched off and a 0 when they were switched off, the binary system. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The computer how we know it today can trace its inception to a person by the name of Charles Babbage, also called the father of computers. He was an English mathematician who was known for his obsessive and grumpy personality. He is referred to as the father of computers since the machines he invented had a method of operation that was like computers. The machines had an input ( a way of entering numbers), a memory ( somewhere to store these numbers while calculations took place, a processor ( machinery that carried out complex calculations), and finally an output ( a mechanism to print the information processed). After these mechanical machines were developed, it paved the way for computers in form closer to that as we know and use them today. The very first computers were analog and not digital. </div>]]></description>
